    Inside cabin no thankyou

I love the inside cabins. It's only somewhere to shower and sleep. Lots of outside space on the ship, and at the cheaper prices, can have more cruises.

I know that this post is for an inside cabin but if anyone decides to upgrade to a balcony cabin be aware that Arvia (this ship) and the Iona have a number of "balcony" cabins on the promenade deck. If you get one of these then you don't really have a balcony, you have a patio with a low wall at the end. People wandering around the promenade deck can easily see into your patio (and your cabin if your curtains aren't drawn) and you have absolutely no privacy whatsoever.
There are some good videos on YouTube that show this odd situation

Yes, it was deck 8 on Iona and im sure it will probably be the same on Arvia being a sister ship.

How does an inside cabin fit 3people, was looking for 2 adults and a child but where is the extra bed - cant see it on pics.
    gari189's avatar
There is a drop down bunk bed from the ceiling but the sofa is also a bed. The double bed can be made up as a double or separated into two singles (edited)

Great price OP, especially as it’s on the new ship.

Thats what the passengers said about the Titanic

Great price - booze would obv cost on top ! - but 14 nights cruise you’d put on a stone !
    Burgmeister's avatar
Booze on P&O is pretty reasonable. About a fiver for a pint and £6 for gin and mixer. Cocktails start at £6.99. Not wetherspoons prices but certainly not the extortionate prices that you pay on other cruise lines.

Bottles of wine in the dining room start at about £19 and for around £22-25 can get a quite pleasant bottle. We tried the cheapest bottle but it wasn't to our taste.

On top of that each passenger over 18 can take a litre of alcohol on board (wine, beer, spirits) and as many mixers as you can carry.

Gratuities are also included in the base fare.

It’s P&O their not a company as last year for those that remember they got rid of 800 British workers for cheap overseas workers disgusting would use em if they were free ! O and their company directors just got £15 million bonus!
    deep.thought's avatar
P&O Ferries is a different company entirely. No links at all.

Mediterranean? Mainly Spain and two of those aren't on the Med.
    nofuture2020's avatar
It says "cruise to mediterranean" which is correct. It goes to the mediterranean.

    Looks great
Does anyone know what time you have to be in Southampton to board the ship?
    gari189's avatar
It varies - one I was on in January the boarding time was 4pm.
  11. saintscouple's avatar
Amazing price - shame it´s not a couple of months later when it would be warm enough to laze around on deck, which we would want to do with so few stops.

We have been to the Marbella area in Mid April and the weather has been 26c so although the first couple of days out and back may be a bit cool to be on deck , there should be some periods when this is possible.

Am I reading this right, that they authorise your card for previous day spends, but only at the end of the cruise will they debit the full amount spent for the entire cruise......meaning you will need essentially double the spend value available in your card as the pre authorised amounts are not likely to be released back as available funds until after the cruise?

Is this the same system for all cruise operators?

I would have preferred my card to be debited the previous day spend, not just pre authorised.

Your daily spend whilst on board will be authorised with your card provider at the end of each day to cover your spend for the previous day. Your card provider, as part of their standard procedures, may retain these authorisations for up to 28 days and this is outside the control of P&O Cruises. Until these authorisations are released, the available funds in the account could be affected. Payment is not taken from your account until it is finally settled on the day of disembarkation. You may wish to therefore contact your card provider on your return to release these authorisations. (edited)

To be honest i have not even noticed this before. We just give our credit card details at the start of the cruise and the whole of the debited amount is billed at the end. You can check your account balance anytime on the tv in your room. When we were on a Tui cruise for two weeks, they billed your card at the end of each week.

P&O are part of the carnival group and offer good value compared to Royal Crribean, Celebrity and Fred Olsen. Like the big tour operators , if you can hold out until about 4 weeks befor or even 2 weks before you can get some good deals. The prices Tui are charging this years are ridiculous. For example we booked a last minut 10 day break last year first week of october to Zante half board for £380 and this year at the moment £840each. So what would i choose? cruise or Package hol with all the threatened strikes mmmmm now let me think.

I have only been on one (very short) cruise. It was like being locked inside a shopping centre that only sold toblerone for three days. I still get flashbacks if I taste chewy chocolate. (edited)
    saintscouple's avatar
Same as me - a mini cruise from Portsmouth to Bilbao - where it was cash onboard.
Although it´s more a ferry... well it is a ferry lol
This is proper cruising and would like to try it. (edited)

Seascanner have it for £564pp when you go through to the end. Crazy price

Funny old itinerary - 14 nights and only 5 stops, 1 of which isn't even all day.
    sysenblaze's avatar
Yep. When it says 14 day Mediterranean cruise I’d automatically expect more than 4 stops in Spain and 1 in France…

    P&O don't deserve any heat
    -Highheels-'s avatar
I'm surprised they haven't rebranded, they get this mistake on every social media posting I've seen. P&O cruises are meant to be ok. P&O ferries deserve to go bust.

Too many sea days - and I’ve done 42 cruises
  20. JDUK2020's avatar
Great price. Cheaper than staying at home. Havnt been on this one. Its still pretty new, inaugural cruise December last year I think Hopefully the usual teething problems mostly ironed out by now. Go for it if you can.
  21. Chet's avatar
Oh man I booked this just 3 weeks ago for more. Note it's cheaper from seascanner and if you don't mind sharing a cabin with more people then it's even better value. I'm going with my parents, 3 sharing a cabin and paid £1600. It's now £1400 on seascanner which is just a nuts price for 14 nights including all meals and entertainment

They normally give you a boarding time and your not supposed to get there before that time. Our inside cabins in the past have been after 2pm but boarding is normally upto 5.30pm but with 5000 passengers it could be later. We were on Azura last December and the ship waited until 5am the following morning for a delayed flight due to snow and still made it to Madeira on time.

No singles but it's 958 for a single which foe a 14 nighter isn't too bad.

I'm after one for September onwards.

Since the pandemic, have cruise prices generally changed any, ie. cheaper, more expensive (like everything else in travel ) or largely the same?
    JDUK2020's avatar
In some respects not really. Post Covid they were doing the base fare for single travellers and not double as normal because I guess they struggled to fill the ships. Its picked up again as have fares but cruising is by no means back to pre pandemic levels. Almost all cruise lines have cheap cruises even Cunard but you need to trawl through Iglu or Cruise.co to find them. This is a great fare for 2 weeks. Cheaper than staying at home.

We are thinking of a cruise for the wife’s 40th with two kids 9 and 14 for something different. Would people recommend or not with kids? Thinking of Caribbean from New York?

All meals in the main dining rooms and Buffets are included but you do need to pay a supplement for Speciality Restaurants like Sindhu and Epicurian. You certainly wont go hungry and will have more money for beer lol (edited)

I never really cruise the med tend to stick to the carribean alot less haven holiday at sea
    daemon1275's avatar
Thats the beauty of cruising. So many different places to see.

This deal, however, is being voted HOT because of the price, not because of where its going.

Isn't this that company that deliberately broke the law, and glibly admitted it and said they'd do it again, by firing all their staff in favour of cheap foreign labour? Or is that a different firm :/
    polk's avatar
Different firm. That was P&O Ferries which is unconnected.
  36. getmore4less's avatar
This is the going entry rate for P&O saver fares £50pppd.

For a couple that's £100pd for a room all your food and entertainment.

Try doing that in the UK.

Any option for all inclusive drinks package at all? Couldn't see one. TIA.
