    Cheap prices always nice but makes you wonder how much the farmers are getting and the pressures the supermarkets must be putting them under to lower their costs.

    People are always complaining about the cost of food over here but if you've ever visited the States or Canada you'd realise we are incredibly lucky and pay virtually nothing. It's about $5USD for a small punnet of mushrooms in the US that are typically looking half gone bad at the outset and we pay about £1. A four pack of chicken breasts here we'd pay about £6 and they'd pay about $12. And then they add the tax on at the till so you pay even more than the shelf price.

    You are right. We have somd of the lowest food prices in the western world. Aldi in Germany is about 30% more expensive than the UK. Why? Heavy competition and low margins. But people still complain

    Thanks OP.  Nice to see Asda, Tesco,  Lidl,  Sainsburys all bringing their prices down for selected veg!   Competition  working the right way for a change . 

    Previously you had signs "price match Aldi" where the price had been put up!  Now is time to stock up again.  I am still on veg I froze from Xmas

    Good old ASDA, give with one hand and take away with the other. The any 2 for £2 offer I use every week to buy mushrooms and clementined has gone away (for the first time in forever) adding 58p to my shop!

    Just found this out myself, but if you click on the grapes 2 for £2 and show all, the mushrooms and clems are still listed as mix n match but it isn't working so maybe a website glitch? (edited)

    Asda's swede are so much larger than the Tesco minis and look much fresher too

    I saw the mini swede on end of an aisle in Tesco today, but in another location round the corner they had loads of 6 inch plus ones for 19p!

    Have Asda carrots improved. I stopped buying, everytime i look in their bags they are all off and slimy. Morrisons wonky are much better

    Must be your local branch as I prefer them from my local.............. good condition & sweeter tasting than from Tesco.

    Worst move ever! Asda in colindale had unsold veg packed on the selves whilst Aldi across the road was selling out everyday in the build up to Christmas and was 1p cheaper

    Followed this to local ASDA and they are promopting £2 for 2 items. NOT 20p for anything listed. Ended up buying from Tesco, which is promoting 19p items!

    Er indoors is not happy as Cucumbers are not included in the promotion….. and the last one she had in the fridge went a bit slimy and soft because WE hadn’t used it in time….or least that was the excuse she gave me…..(confused)
