"professional gamers"- what a laugh. Back in the day, so called pros played on LANs with games that actually had physics and latency that matched or exceeded Human reaction time and visual cortex response.

Today, the laughable online 'pro' games have real latencies worse than 30Hz, and shooting/physics code systems that are even worse. The entire engineering of such games is PSYCHOLOGICAL- giving the impression that when you press a button, it matters (by the particular millisecond, I mean)- when in reality it really does not. Then influencers (like LTT) are paid insane amounts of money to give faked tech demos of very expensive kit that 'proves' a competitive advantage. All the while the game publishers make their money via lootboxes and paid cosmetics.

No aspect of a 240 Hz IPS LCD monitor refreshes at this rate- tho they do refresh faster (in some limited respect) than does 120 Hz- which in turn is better than 60Hz. Now old CRT, and new OLED (or any other type of LED), can in practice do REAL total image high frequency refresh- but not liquid crystal.

Today, gaming high refresh is actually nothing more than another form of motion blur- which is why some people perceive a 'smoother' image. The irony is that one can mathematically put the same blur effect in lower refresh rates using multi frame data- movies do this naturally via camera frame exposure duration- which is why movie 24FPS is acceptable with fast motion action sequences.

TLDR: 240Hz LCD is pure gimmick to extract more more from foolish gamers who don't understand well- almost anything, but have a high disposable income.

Have you ever used one though? Anyone who uses one can tell you it's better than 144hz. So calling it a gimmick is abit of a stretch.

As for the LTT mention - didn't they do a video a year or two ago featuring tests with actual pro players where they concluded that higher frame rates don't make you a better player. Higher frame rates just feel better.

Edit: just re-watched that LTT video from 3 years ago and there is indeed a big advantage from having higher frames.

Some real clowns in this thread, this monitor is excellent, I have one myself.

Well worth this price, you get what you pay for.

I have a 1080p 240hz Dell monitor that was £160 and absolutely love it, but hard to justify paying £340 more to go from 1080p to 1440p. Having tried 1080p, 1440p and 4K, I feel like 1080p is all you need at this resolution

You cannot compare monitors on resolution and Hz alone. This is one of, if not the best monitor in its class. Check out the Monitors Unboxed review of this monitor if you want to understand why it stands out. (edited)

Would have bitten at £400, but could be worth it to someone desperate for 240hz. 144hz or so is still good enough for me at 1440p.

How have you compared a 4k 120hz panel to a 1440p 240hz panel, completely different use cases 🤦

Sadly no longer available at this price.
I'm in the market for a 240Hz 1440p GSync monitor as well.
