Activity-packed and close to the action, there’s always something fun to do at La Vallée
With broad sandy beaches, fascinating history and chic seaside towns, Normandy proves you don’t have to travel far to enjoy an out-of-this-world holiday.

And at La Vallée, one of Normandy’s premier parcs, you can enjoy a glorious rural setting not far from one of those magnificent sandy beaches, too. The parc is scattered with flowering hedges and fruit trees, with some of the excellent facilities housed in a beautifully converted Norman building. There are fantastic waterslides, and for 2022 the outdoor pool complex has been extended with a brand new jungle themed Spray Park with lots of fun water games.

For kids looking for non-stop activity La Vallée has everything you could wish for with our great Kids' Clubs. Children of all ages can make new friends and develop new skills, but most of all have loads of fun. Parents can even get involved too at the Family Fun sessions.

Local days out:

Parc Festyland
For a day of fun, go to Parc Festyland, a unique amusement park with new attractions every year. There are rides and activities for the whole family, and in July and August every day exciting Viking battles are held. Great for kids!

Aquarium Vivarium de Trouville
This attraction has local and tropical fish to gaze at as they swim around, but it also has venomous snakes, turtles, lizards to peek at. ‘Zoo Cerza’ is also fun for the whole family, where animals are free to roam around in their natural environment.

The Bayeux Tapestry
You do not have to travel far to see one of France’s most famous historic artefacts. The Bayeux tapestry is about an hour’s drive away, which is well worth it to see this extraordinary depiction of history. Another must-see historic attraction are the D-Day landing beaches, just a short drive from Houlgate.

Be beside the seaside
If you fancy a day at the beach then the lovely seaside town of Houlgate is nearby, or the sophisticated resort of Deauville, which has a lovely yachting marina and casino. Also within driving distance is Deauville’s less formal and expensive twin town, Trouville. It has golden sands and lots of seaside concessions.

Caen
Caen is a very cosmopolitan town which has lots of sightseeing opportunities. It is known for its historical buildings built during the reign of William the Conqueror.

Part of the Comfort family, the 'Sleeps 6' is a great holiday base with a sociable open plan living area and two good bedrooms (a double and a twin). For families of 5 or 6, the seating in the lounge easily converts into an extra double bed, but please note, there is no third bunk in the twin bedroom.

What's the "crowd" like at these places?

We've stayed here twice - fairly mixed sort of crowd but not many undesirables. Decent waterslides, nice enough location and not too far from Calais so would go back - main downside is that bar/pizza restaurant gets v. busy/slow though they were decent and resonably-priced pizzas.

I just booked a week from the 20th May cost me £282.90 for 3 adults all in .
I’ve been wanting to do the Normandy beaches for a long time .
From Pompey the ferry alone is about £400 .
    Thanks for the post

I stayed here last year to do the beaches, around the same time, its a really nice site and the weather was fantastic.

Remember a lot of the French resorts require budgie smugglers for the pools.

We went to this park in May last year. The pools, slides and splash park were all open and there was plenty in the area to do. The kids had a great time and we would recommend Festyland is you have younger kids (ours were 8 and 5).

The only downside while we were there was the cool breeze that meant it was a bit too cool for the outside pools other than the middle of the day and the kids clubs and activities were catered more towards european visitors so ours didn't always understand what was going on!

We've stayed here a few years ago over Easter and it was pretty good. The pool complex wasn't open properly, but the smaller indoor pool was open and fine for the kids at that age. Also, Calais is a long drive from here - it would be far easier to get the ferry from Portsmouth. It might be more expensive, but weigh up the driving the other side.

The only thing to be aware of is that the parking by your accommodation can get very slippery if it's been raining a lot, slippery to the point where it can be difficult to get the car off the grass if you're parked at the wrong angle.

Bet the dates are all school term times when every where is cheap. But not an option for us parents, especially when the charge to take a child out during term is £60 per child, per parent (£120 each - I have 3)

I know what you mean. Frustrates the hell out of me. Always wondered why schools don't offer xxxxx amount of days holiday per year (similar to how it is at work) to allow parents to not get absolutely screwed on prices for having kids. Fed up of looking at holidays during half term which are 800 quid then a day after term starts it's 300 quid

Just got back from a week there
Very impressed with Normandy and the accommodation
Drive from Dover was very interesting and saw more of France by doing so
I had tolls avoided on my sat nav on the way so took longer but was worth it and the tolls weren’t much in the way back
Roads were fantastic too hardly any traffic and no potholes!
Lots of interesting places to visit in Normandy too

Park is fine , local area is interesting, just up the coast are Deauville and Honfleur which are fantastic, oh and btw it’s 1/2 hour from the ferry at Caen , why would go via Dover
    steveblackman's avatar
Depends where you live i guess. Isnt the crossing time to Caen much longer and costs more? (edited)

You need to add your linen to it at a cost of £68 for everyone

*Family Duvet Linen Pack Hire (Queen Size)
1 queen double duvet linen pack, 2 single duvet linen packs, 4 beach towels*

Then £55 return for the ferry making it £449

    Minus £55 for the deal = £394

*This is for 7 people but unless you fill the car with bedding etc you still need the bedding*

    Making it £56.28 PP

    😩 (edited)
