I live across the water. Plenty to see and do. V&A museum, McManus, HMS Unicorn, Discovery, Jute Museum. Some reasonable restaurants, nightlife. St Andrews is a short bus trip away and offers a whole other dimension. Edinburgh is just over an hour away on the train, station is right under Sleeperz. You can fill 3 or 4 days easily.

It's a nice hotel - very modern. Rooms are pretty small but very hi tech. Right beside the railway station - close to the V&A etc. You can park overnight in one of the nearby council car parks for free between 6pm and 8am (approx)

The multi story car parks charge up to 8pm so watch out for that. I was caught out at the Green Market one (just up from the train station) with that.

There is a few things to do in Dundee as already mentioned, but it's also a great central place for going to others such as St Andrews, Arbroath, Aberdeen, Edinburgh to name a few for the day.

There is also the beach at Broughty Ferry (you can get the bus there and can get a 5 people bus ticket for all day for up to 5 people for about £10 which is pretty good value as a normal day ticket in Dundee I think has just gone up to £4 for one person.

Stagecoach also do day rider tickets if you are travelling out of Dundee by bus. The bus station is only 10 minutes walk from the Hotel if that.

There is also Camperdown Park for the kids, ice skating and a Cineworld cinema on the edge of the park complete with McDonalds if that's your thing and you can get the bus there, or about a 20 minute Drive from the Hotel depending on what time of day it is.

There is also an Odeon cinema, but it's in the opposite direction, but it's beside the Skate Park, there is also the Trampoline thingy on Glamis Road. Rize I think it's called. Sadly the main swimming pool in the centre is closed.

If a cup of tea / coffee is your thing, you will not be short of choice, there is loads of coffee shops dotted in and around the centre too. Greigs too if you have your O2 priority codes.

If you like Indian Buffets there is Taza again only about 5 minutes walk from the hotel, failing that there is the Cafe in Tesco just round the corner too on the water front.

Sensations Sience Centre for the kids is just round the corner too, again I'd say less than 10 minutes walk from the hotel.

If charity shops is your thing for a wander, there is quite a few in Reform Street and in the Welgate Centre. Again within 10 minutes walk from the hotel. There is also a few in Broughty Ferry but that's really a bus or car jouney there, but it's nice there for the wander round the shops, then grabbing something to eat even a Boots meal deal or Greigs there and eat it on the Beach following it up with a game of crazy golf (not sure if it's open yet but might be).

    Any other questions just ask

Oh if you are going to Arbroath, there is a fish & chip buffet place called the Bell Rock which does the buffet between 12pm-2pm daily but also serves other food.

If you are wandering round the harbour there or looking to buy smokies (fish), watch out for the giant seaguls, they realy are huge even the babies and are known to swoop down and grab food out your hand. My friends daughter lost an ice cream this way.

The seaguls in the Centre of Dundee are known to grab out your hand too, so watch out if you are eating a sandwich or sausage roll. My son has lost both to seagulls just at the Overgate Centre much to the amusement of others near by.

Bizarrely (incredibly) this hotel has a £50k chandelier hanging in the reception area. An oil worker staying in the hotel got drunk and swung from it, google the BBC article for details. This is also something visitors could do in Dundee but not recommended. There is indoor climbing walls available in the city to scratch that particular itch if needed.

Nice walk up to the viewpoint at Dundee Law hill taking in a few sights ( you could make it shorter if you wish. ) The view from up there is pretty amazing , especially on a clear day.

Not sure my eyes could cope with the visuals and lighting, even for one night.
