Dont put it on your collar unless you want to hang your dog. A harness is the way to go. These are more for the back seat, if you use these in front bear in mind they are tethered to centre of car so when break the dog going towards centre. Better with the one attached to headrest if you using it for the front of the motor

I don't have a dog but would of thought a proper harness would be better and safer for a dog 🤷‍♂️

This should attach to the harness and not a collar. So yes harness usage for a pet in a vehicle is a must.

Probably only useful to stop your dog wandering about the car while you’re driving (or comply with the road traffic act) but I would imagine totally ineffective on a normal dog collar if involved in an accident…yes it will stop your dog hitting you in the back of the head at 50mph, but probably snap the dogs neck…I’d suggest you only use if you can clip to a dogs harness like a K9 or similar.

I have a proper seatbelt dogharness... do not attach these to your dog's collar... a sudden stop and you will break your dog's neck.
They are however useful for strapping stuff down onto the rear seats to stop it shooting off should you need to stop suddenly.

The amount of stupid idiotic people I see breaking the law having an unsecured dog in the car is unreal.
It's downright dangerous and you can land yourself a hefty fine, plus invalidate your insurance.

Ok so how do I fit this to my cat?

Cats are better in secured carriers. If not ensure you use a proper car harness. (edited)

We use them with a harness they are very good just right length for movement but not long enough to be insecure

For anyone that uses these and leaves them connected in the car ready to use. Make sure you disengage it from the seat belt clip if you put the seats down or you will find as I did that it bends and is very difficult to get out!

They're really not that good if your dog is a chewer, better off making your own out of some thick rope around the headrest

My dog a jack Russel x patterdale chewed through one in a couple of short car journeys (edited)

How's that's going to safely secure a dog in a harness?
