The screen is listed as 720p on the listing but based on similar deals on here, people have been lucky and got 1080p screens. This laptop model comes with both. Obviously we must assume that it's 720p and anything better will be a bonus.

RAM is soldered and therefore not upgradable. 8GB however should be more than enough for light tasks/multitasking.

Great deal, but as mentioned in the description: 1366 x 768 display isn't great and will feel like a downgrade, if you're used to an HD screen. Other than that, a fun device and perfect for travel.

Yeah I agree, particularly if the intended use is watching videos and the like. I am hoping that they may have listed it as generic and get a 1080p one. But that's hopeful at best! I've ordered it for work purposes so it's perfect for using Office etc.

Edit: I've been told mine will arrive on Tuesday. Depending on what time it arrives of course, I'll do my best to confirm which screen it is before the deal ends, in case it's a deal breaker for someone. As we've already said, it's still an amazing deal with the 720p screen :-)

Edit edit: has posted that he has managed to get 1080p (see his comment below in this thread). I must stress we can't 'expect' it but based on the many comments I've seen on deals similar to this, it seems plausible. (edited)

Ordered a T480 from them in the deal a week or two ago.

First laptop DOA - boot loops and flickering screen. Back it went.
Replacement laptop - janky reprinted keyboard (euro layout with UK keys), LCD scratched in multiple places, and faulty trackpad.

Whilst not a positive experience, I can commend them for their customer service, which was top notch - polite, friendly and efficient regarding the replacement and then subsequent refund. (edited)

Can you confirm if the buyer pays for the return delivery if faulty when received? Listing states buyer pays if claiming on 12 month warranty. Thanks.

Got the ITZOO deal recently. Dead pleased with it. It is a 720p model but the screen is clear and sharp and bright enough compared to what I'm used to.
It's a great size and battery life seems to be at least 4 hours. Also ordered a Windows 10 home model but put W10 Pro onto it which activated fine and have then set up a dual-boot to Linux. For £150 (or it seems now less given this deal!) I can hardly imagine why 90% of users would buy any other device, absolutely astounding value for money.

Just a warning about this seller.

I've purchased two laptops from previous deals on here and they've both gone back - keyboard not working on the first and obviously damaged screen and bezel on the second. QA is clearly poor.

On the positive side I've had refunds both times without any hassle (it just takes a while).

They also seem to use something that contains methylated spirit to clean the laptops which they don't mind letting their kit reek of before sending it off to you.

Because of the lack of QA, I have a hard time going for a third try even though the prices are good. Maybe I've just been unlucky.

I'm not saying don't buy, I'm saying be careful and check EVERYTHING when you get it.

Have you looked at the seller's feedback? I think you have just been that unlucky based on that.

Were you purchases listed under the 'very good' category?

Re: meth spirit its industry standard to use something containing a very high alcohol content (usually isopropyl alcohol). Better than smelling of fags I guess? Lol. (edited)

I don’t think I can complain guys. Keyboard looks brand new.

720p screen, non backlit though unfortunately.

It does have a 4G modem though!

Genuine charger. 3496 power on hours according to the SSD.

Few light marks on the lid.

Wow, looks like you've got a corker there. Looks like they're all 720 unfortunately. Still a great deal, especially when they look like that.

Please note you are responsible for shipping the item back to us. Once the tem is repaired, we will pay to get the item shipped back to you.

Even ignoring the "tem" incompetence, the concept that two sentences of drivel can sidestep legislation is hilarious.
So a polite reminder to chancers such as this vendor:
if your tat becomes busted prematurely, the merchant covers all costs to resolve, including shipping both ways,
unless you (the merchant) can cite exemption to statutory legislation, which you cannot.

Not perfect but will be OK I think.

No screen blemishes that I can see so far. Top and base are very good - no major marks.

There is a fairly noticeable scrape at bottom left. Irritating but probably nothing more. Touchpad has signs of use. Suspect keyboard is a reprint but it looks neat.

Definitely only 768 resolution but as others have said that should help with battery life. Battery may only be 73% capacity based on sticker on base. I'm a little worried about the battery which has gone from claiming 7 hours remaining to 5h26 remaining in about 5 minutes of simply browsing, so I'm going to keep an eye on that. Official Lenovo 65W USB C charger though which in itself is worth about £30 I think.

Has a slightly odd smell as referred to in another post but not over-powering. Fan is unobtrusive so far (in fact, barely on).

Screen panel not great but does the job.

It's a little heavier than I expected but I'm used to a Galaxy Book Pro.

I'm not wowed by it but at the end of the day it's a 5 year old laptop. It's clearly massively faster than the desperate (but actually newer) Celeron N4000 laptop it's replacing for a teenager, and at the end of the day if she's happy with it that's great. Still not convinced that the scuff is "minimal wear". That said the rest of it seems to be in good nick.

Just going to keep an eye on that battery... It's gone down further since I've been writing.

Install Lenovo Vantage from the Windows store.
Then check the battery health = go to DEVICE > DEVICE SETTINGS > POWER

Click on SEE BATTERY DETAILS and you can check the Design Capacity (original capacity) and the current Full Charge Capacity. it will also tell you how often the battery was charged (Cycle Count)

Only solder RAM since the X270, so you'd be stuck with 8GB. It is a few grammes lighter than the X270 was but soldered RAM is not for me - especially if it is less than 16GB
    rapid85's avatar
    Author
Yes, I have mentioned that in the description

For using office and basic stuff like that 8GB is ample (I've had my current one for about 8 years and have no issue with 8GB). I usually have a couple of internet explorers, excel, outlook etc open at the same time. Obviously, requirements depend on the individual. Hopefully you can find the right deal for you.

mine arrived - 720p but very nice screen - whole thing looks and feels good as new. tested google play and fire store both AOK - going to try the SSD upgrade to a bigger size over the weekend. steal at the price - great to run android apps with no faff. battery on mine seems great.

The screen resolution will take you back 6 years - no matter how tempting the deal, the screen resolution means the laptop will be a pain to use. You'd be mad if it advertised at 768 screen but you are hoping for FHD. expect to receive a 768 screen - see Chris's comment further down - he knows nothing of this supplier (edited)
    rapid85's avatar
    Author
If indeed it is a 720 screen (see comment below from Chris). (edited)
  11. chris-afc's avatar
I ordered the one listed last week at around £10 less with the i5-8250U and 128GB storage + HD.

I ended up receiving this model with 256GB and a FHD screen. Also in pristine condition with around 93% battery health.

It seems to be pot luck on what you receive, but I'd say there's a decent chance you'll get the FHD one, but don't go in expecting that.

Laptop itself is very snappy when running an Zorin OS and all functionality seems to work as expected. (edited)

Mine arrived today, very good condition overall, however stinks due to the keyboard being painted over! also it was a US keyboard layout, luckily i got hold of a new UK one, if it werent for that Id be regretting the purchase, also it turned out to be 720p screen but that was expected.
    rapid85's avatar

Blimey I'd better check my keyboard layout! As for repainting, what a classic refurbishment

That US layout would have been a non starter for me. Shame about the screen.

The feedback is slightly concering so far.

    When i upgarde the memory.

    1. Install the Windows 10 ISO onto a memory stick
    2. Change the SSD (you may need to disable the interal battery when you are doing it
    3. Boot up the laptop on the memory stick and install windows.
    4. when i did it, it took the serial number for windows off the monther board
    5. Job done.

You can also clone the existing hard drive to the new one but on thinkpad's i do the process above.

Just a side note and not meaning to be pedantic, but this has a windows 11 pro licence. (Disclaimer, I haven't done a windows 11 install so if the procedure is have 10 ISO and upgrade to 11, I apologise in advance).

Actually a solid laptop that will meet most people's needs, with the added advantage that it's unlikely to break if you drop it or sit on it accidentally. I have one for work and I'm very happy with it.
  19. rapid85's avatar

73% feels quite low (others have reported around 90%). Battery should be minimum 2 hours according to description. Worth testing that.

If everything seems good apart from the bottom left scuff, that's probably fair to call it minimal wear cumulatively imho. But that's subjective. Your summary seemed very fair. (edited)
    steveyboy79's avatar
It's 2 hours standby which I think it will achieve. Disappointing though to have 73% battery when others have had 80s or even 90s but that's the refurb risk. Thanks for posting anyway.
  20. retepetsir's avatar
Received mine yesterday and very happy with it, particularly for that price. Well build/solid (I used an X260 at work and so had some expectation of it being good). Sticker suggested 82% battery but so far it's charged beyond that and is holding it well. Will install some apps and see how it goes. It'll be replacing our 10 year old family laptop!

A non-1080P screen is fine for us, it's only a small 12.5" so doesn't really need to be much more?! (edited)
  21. thehappyhammer's avatar
anyone got any recommendations on a good M.2 SSD upgrade (higher capacity) for these? thanks. (edited)
    rapid85's avatar
    Author
What is it for? M.2's are so fast you won't notice any difference for light tasks etc, which this is designed for. As long as you stick with a reputable brand you should be fine. Corsair, Samsung, Kioxia (formerly toshiba), western digital and many others are good to go. Just make sure you check and order the right size as laptops can be different to desktops etc. (edited)
  22. Moss87's avatar
what are the chances that the soldered RAM will become faulty? it should be very small right.
if that happens would that means the entire main board had to be replaced?
    rapid85's avatar
    Author
Extremely small yes. It's rare that RAM fails but of course, it can happen. If the RAM did fail on one of these it wouldn't be worth fixing. 12 month warranty though.

When people talk about non upgradeble RAM it's always to do with either liking the deal but wanting to improve the spec to suit their needs, or more to do with future proofing. I've not seen it as a cause for concern with potential failure before.

You'd be very unfortunate for the ram to fail before coming to the end of its natural life. Unless kept on charge 100% of the time, the battery is most likely to be the reason to upgrade years down the line. (edited)

4 core Vs 2 core CPU?

Post the specs and let's have a look.
  24. Proveright's avatar
Thanks OP. For me the most important bit is screen size. 12.5" is not much bigger than a phone and tiny.
    ATfix's avatar
By my calculation based on the formula area = diagonal^2 divided by 2, it's about 4 times the size of a phone with a 6 inch screen.

I think anyone that ordered on Friday will be getting theirs tomorrow. I was a little disappointed that I got a text from parcelforce telling me they're delivering. I've had much better experiences with DPD! Fingers crossed. (edited)

Well, mine has just arrived and the display isn't in what I would call very good condition.
The anti reflective layer is damaged and you can see the white bit when it when switched on.
Unfortunetely right in the middle of the screen too.
If it wasn't for that, it does show signs of use but would be acceptable.

    To quote...

Very Good - RefurbishedLaptop will have minor wear to the lid and palm rest, and may have minor scratches/marks around the surface. There will be no physical damage to the laptop.

    Ah, that's a shame.

Is the display FHD? Is the keyboard backlit?

    Appreciate both are unlikely.

It will be really handy if everyone that ordered could post about the condition of the laptops, with pictures would be extremely helpful.

That way we can build up a good picture of how reliable the seller is with their descriptions.

I'll put mine on either tonight or tomorrow. So far:

Parcelforce actually did a good job, although it was extremely well packed. You could literally have thrown the package against a wall and I don't think it would suffer any damage.

The sticker on it did say 720 but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. At this point if I had to guess though, it may well be. Unfortunately I didn't have time to test it as I needed to get to work. I was happy with the overall condition of it. Lenovo plastics are fantastic, scratches hardly show on it at all. Whilst there were lots of marks and very light scratches on the top, they're not noticeable unless you look about 30cm away. The screen is perfect. Overall I'd say 'refurbished - very good' is an accurate description of what I got.

I did notice on the label they put on it (the same one that said 720), it also said 92%. I do wonder if this is referring to the battery. If so a technician has probably tested the specs. (edited)

We should have all waited a week for the April20 code
Just in case anyone missed out and they get some more stock in by the 26th....
Great little laptop though, I use an Thinkpad L490 for work but much prefer the portability of the X280.

    50048020-VkE1H.jpg
  29. CrazyBob's avatar
I have added four small silicone bumpers to top of mine to stop the lid closing fully so the screen doesn't touch the trackpad buttons. Saw it on YouTube as a fix for a different Thinkpad.
I have used the ones found on Kitchen cupboards for now until I find some more OEM looking rectangular ones, like the feet it has on the base.
  30. steveyboy79's avatar
I returned mine. As per post below, there was a noticeable scuff on it and the battery was dire - to the extent that it would run out overnight when the laptop was closed. I was unlucky perhaps.

However, while this is not the reason I returned it (it wouldn't have been a legitimate reason given I knew what sort of screen it was when I bought it), I have to say the screen was terrible. If you buy this having used even an IPS screen, let alone OLED, you will find it very jarring. Also missed backlit keyboard.

(I'm often sceptical when people post claiming poor screen etc and think they're just being fussy. I stand corrected.) (edited)
