M9 plus is good..ish, i have four of them. Connection can be random, by that i mean they don't daisy chain predictably. Often one will connect to a node that is much further away so the resulting wifi signal is poor. This i (and others) resolve using wired backhaul. The firmware fix to v 1.6 was due a year ago and is still under test. community.tp-link.com/en/…e=1
Hopefully it will be released soon.

    Hi laserface

How do you know if your M9+ node is connecting to the wrong daisychained node? I've 7 of these at my home (one I've not unboxed yet). I highly rate these but the big issue I have is with the Ring cameras and certain other devices. They connect to a node but as the nodes all share the same SSID, I'm not too sure whether the Ring cameras are connecting to a further awayh node. The speed on the Ring cameras is appauling, so I'm just wondering whether this is the cause. Ordinarilly I am limited to 10Mbps and that is what I can achieve from PCs, tablets phones etc. but some of the Ring devices upload at around 1Mbps, which Ring say will reduce the picture quality. Despite the Ring device being just 1.5m away on the outside of a wall, I get an RSSI of just -44. Sometime it will drop to -50. I think Ring are the weakest link but just wondered whether they could be connecting to the wrong node?

I bought these a couple of years ago after sending back cheaper versions. This is the only mesh system which works in my garden room far away from the house.... can recommend
    Djim's avatar
I can’t. The units this manufacturer produces are known to be full of security issues.

Highly recommended - I had M5's and added these M9's no problem - just make sure the first node from your isp modem (mine is a v media hub 5) is an M9 if you do this.

I get around 700-800 meg dload via these 2 floors above from the main router !

I have 51 devices connected to them and they don't even break a sweat.

Work well with RING devices also.

    Just awesome.

This is the mesh system i recommend to all my family now. I bought the Netgear Orbi RBK50 on a good deal and it was no where near as easy to set up and manage as these Decos are.

This is a very good mesh system running in 3 storey property ( loft conversion ) Did try the BT premium whole home wi-fi originally but the firmware was very buggy and was refunded by amazon after few months.

Been running these Decos ( 3 pack ) for year or so and rock solid. They haven't received any firmware updates for a while now but run on BT Fibre ( about 65mb ) in Wifi router mode with a open reach modem.

If you regard ‘very good’ as full of security issues then I’d agree. Lol

Runs search for TP-Link hacking… you’ll see everything you need to see…

Cheers, ordered, you lot better not be lying 🤥

Unlucky. These are full of security holes, just like the rest of the TP-Link network kit.

You pay for what you get. In this instance it’s data theft lol

I just set these up last week (Deco X55's) after having major issues with my Nova MW5's. I was blaming Now Broadband but after I put these in (only took me 20 minutes) the signal everywhere in the house has improved tenfold. No kids moaning about the WiFi going off. Only get 80mb but I was only getting 10-20 in some rooms. Now get at least 65mb.

I am using Deco M5 for a couple of years. Flawless.

I hope these are better than M5. Should I upgrade?
    daveateallyourbees's avatar
I believe they are better but they’ve still been around awhile. I have no problem with my M5 but I will upgrade in a couple of years when they have a Wifi v7 version

Warning: These don’t even support Mac-address whitelisting. Anyone using them opens them-self up to being hacked very easily.

There are literally step by step instructions available online… would never recommend any TP link network devices. They are cheap. There’s a reason why…. Lol

The M9 plus don' t even have built in configuration backup lol. TP link do make some decent gear, these are more on the cost effective side compared to their competitors. The M9 plus is now showing as end of life on the US site. tp-link.com/us/…ome
Just hope we get the 1.6.1 firmware released before they give up on them.

Should I get these or a version with 6/6e
I’ve got 900mb fibre and quite a few smart bulbs/plugs iOS devices and 2 xboxes ?? (edited)
    Myles's avatar
If you want 600-750 over WiFi these can do that but if you want full speed, use 6/6e

Would anyone please recommend a good system to extend reach reliably around 35m to an outbuilding?

For reasons outside my control, I need to link to a hub in the far end of the house and have no option for a cable link. The existing hub struggles with reliable coverage outside the room in which it's situated.

I'm currently running a Tenda system, but need to load it heavily at approx 35m from the hub and it appears to be beyond its range. (edited)

I don't know about the M9's, but just be aware that my otherwise excellent Deco M5's and Sky Q don't get on. Sky Q will not work wirelessly with the Deco M5. I had to hard wire my satellite units into the Sky Q box to make them work.
    oggy.1's avatar
Some one said you need to go into the boxes in the tplink app and turn the WiFi off for those devices so they use their own sky network.
  14. BiscuitBachchan's avatar
Sky Q when not connected to their own equipment only uses the 2.4G Wi-Fi ( Sky limitation on other broadbands )

make sure the Sky q boxes do not have the high priority option enabled for each device( made the q boxes very unreliable ) , possible for the main box turn of mesh technology option so it does not roam.

I have Sky q and 2 wireless mini boxes and generally it works well but the Q boxes can flake out some times. You could place a Deco unit near the sky box and hardwire it. (edited)

Bought mine for £130 off ebay and it's one of the best things I have purchased
  16. vincento_1's avatar
Is the speed from the satellites same as from the primary?
    mrmo786's avatar
Not if it is wirelessly connected
  17. moses019's avatar
I have 2 of these. Abs brilliant units. My only bugbear is that the ethernet ports don't work on the 'host' deco for outgoing connections, the one that is connected to the router via ethernet. The other decos ethernet ports(connected through wifi) work fine. Apparently its something they had to implement for one reason or another on the host unit.

    It's to allow wired backhaul

Will these work POE? Thinking of buying these for a new build

    Ordered, delivered, tested, repacked, returned.

Tried in router and AP mode but they didn’t seem to use the full bandwidth.
Getting 1gb on laptop wired from bt hub but these didn’t get over 500mb. Also, moving around and testing and my phone wasn’t switching to the other nodes even when right next to them.

The measurement in the app is not reliable.

I ran speed test from my wired laptop and was getting 900mb, which is what my supply is but the app showed only 500.

Have run these for around 2 year, very happy with them.

How do these compare to the X60 XC5400 units @ £229?
