So, you take natural spring water, boil it to separate the minerals from the water, then add artificial chemicals to the distilled water to replicate what you started with ?

This is like an environmentalist's worst nightmare. Water from a spring by Coca Cola, shipped to a factory (carbon emission), then processed / distilled (more energy) then bottled (into plastic) then shipped to some huge Amazon warehouse (carbon emission) stored, then shipped to the consumer (carbon emission) then chuck all the plastic away

All when it's available from our kitchen tap

Another Coca-Cola owned and marketed product. Aimed at people who are not, as the product is named.

Just drink normal filtered tap water or bottled mineral water.

I wonder if coke are aware of the smartwater security product?

SmartWater is a traceable liquid and forensic asset marking system (taggant) that is applied to items of value to identify thieves and deter theft. The liquid leaves a long-lasting and unique identifier, whose presence is invisible except under an ultraviolet black light.

Well that's rubbish, drank tap water after mine. Tap water has to be just as sterile, by law.

Obviously you know more than the consultant oncologist. What is your medical qualification to be giving advice such as that. I'm sure we all want to know. By the way a simple Google clearly identifies that tap water is not sterile and anyone with half a brain would realise that as it has to travel down miles of old pipes it never will be. (edited)

A lot of people suggesting tap water as an alternative, but this product can be useful to athletes or very active individuals that need to replenish electrolytes efficiently
    ChildofChaos's avatar
    ChildofChaos
Ironically any 'athletes' doing this, are not very smart as this is not correct.

The distillation process removes more electrolytes than they add back, this has less than tap water, so it’s even worse for athletes.

You are correct about electrolytes however, Lucozade actually do a water for this purpose called fitwater. Any water with added electrolytes of any useful quantity is going to taste salty, this tastes more pure, even than tap water, since the minerals have been distilled. (edited)

No wonder our kids get so many allergies.
This complete obsession with living in a sterile world, anti-bacterial everything, soap, toothpaste, bum wipes, etc... It's not good.

Now, there's harmful bacteria in tap water, omg.

It's time to stop obsessing about such things. Get your hands dirty, let kids play in the garden. Drink tap water. It won't do you any harm. Your immune system can cope, beneficial bacteria on your skin and in your gut will defend you, and your body will be more resilient.

Otherwise, we'll all end up living in a sterile bubble pod scared to have any contact with the outside world.
    World's gone mad.

Ermm.. It's not germs in tap water, its the chlorine, fluoride, recycled sewage, medicines, and "other" found in it. That's why I won't touch it.

I bought Smart water for £1 from the store. When out. Drank. Then I realized that I could buy a 6-pack of normal water bottles from the Poundshop next door for £1 !!! Well, I'll be damned...this water really works! (edited)

This is the only bottled water you can drink after a stem cell transplant as 100% sterile according to the NHS. Tap water can be boiled as an alternative.

Can you provide a link or other evidence to back that up, otherwise its just hearsay?

This product is just well water from Abbey Well (also sometimes branded as Schweppes Abbey Well, as coke also own the Schweppes brand) New minster abbey, near Morpeth in Northumberland (owned by coke since 2008) that has been vapour filtered and then had salts and minerals added back in. It is not 100% sterile as far as im aware. Even if it was after filtering, the added minerals and salts could reintroduce contaminants. (edited)

This is an absolute rip off.

Also, it's bad for the environment to distil water then bottle it. Pointlessly boiling water. Selling this for drinking ought to be made illegal.

    I drink filtered tap water.

When I go out, if I remember, I refill a bottle with my filtered tap water.
If I forget and have to buy a bottle of water in a convenience store, I note further rip off pricing, where a 500ml bottle often costs twice the price of a 1 litre bottle.
I've attached a bottle to my rucksack to try and avoid the mistake of not taking any water with me.

Great clean pure water, without heavy metals, fluoride or chlorine that tap water has in and CANT be removed via your home carbon filter. Don't folks understand that boiled water is exactly this BUT doesn't have the electrolytes that boiling removes? My brain has always made me think that steam is clean and it certainly is. Well this is steam collected. Electrolytes added. All harmful bacteria that exists in tap and spring water removed. Granted, I would never pay this much for it. But those saying this is bad for you or not as good as pure spring water are talking madness. This IS spring water cleaned. Cos even spring water has "bad" stuff in. It comes from outdoors. Bacteria and chemicals are in it. But not this. Certified. And just for the record I've no problem drinking tap water or other. Unlike my wife who only drink bottles water. Smarty pants you are. I dont get why people buy big bottles of water in this country when we have perfectly good tap water. Absolutely ridiculous. Infuriating in Aldi when on a Sunday afternoon huge families just out of their weird gospel church clog up the aisles and checkouts because they have a day trip to buy a trolley full of bottled water. I've drank mineral and spring water all of my life, so I'm used to it.

My tap water smells like a swimming pool with added dog...

    So no thanks.
