I own this and its definitely a really affordable way into basic smoking. I've done pulled pork shoulder, ribs, wings and pork belly on this thing and managed to learn and develop my capabilities whilst making great food.

Insane price for what you get, HOT!

Can you use a kettle BBQ for smoking instead?

Yes you can, simply a matter of using a water bath, operating the vents and positioning/lighting your coals a little differently. Amazingribs.com, amongst others, has a guide.

Had this as my first smoker before moving to a BGE. If you intend on trying your hand you can get a decent brisket or two out of this. However, it didn't last much longer than a couple of seasons before it rusted up and slowly fell apart. Still, worth the money if you're just getting into it, but if you're doing a long smoke beware that it will take quite a bit of fuel to keep it going.

I looked at this 3 weeks ago when I purchased my weber smokey mountain. I was told that the fuel savings using the wsm instead of thus would cover the price difference many times over after a few years of use.

Gary... How can the bigger WSM use less fuel than this smaller capacity smoker?

Thanks Just ordered this. If any body could provide an advice on something nice and easy to try in this it would be appreciated. I have a kettle BBQ and just do burgers, sausage and Chicken on it. I have often thought about trying something a bit more ambitious but just thought I would not have a patience for waiting hours for something to cook. This might be the kick in the pants I need to get started.

I’ve just ordered one to collect tomorrow. If anyone is using one already can you share some advice on setup and anything else that’s needed.

Read that a better thermometer is advised. I’ve always wanted to slow cook Brisket so I’m looking forward to giving that a go.

Not being funny, but how difficult would it be to build something comparative to this? I'm looking at some bbqs and thinking damn there's not a lot to them for the price tbf
