Bought at this price a week ago. I was in 2 minds as to whether to upgrade my old UE boom which I've had and loved for at least 6 years and I'm glad I did. This is leagues above the boom in terms of overall sound quality, presence and volume.
The charge 5 is pretty much double the weight of the Boom so it's not surprising that it sound bigger but I've found it really excels in the outside open space. The sound is actually full bodied and has bass. The UE Boom loses bass depth and sounds thin and weak outside in comparison.
I'll still use my boom indoors as the leaner sound is less overwhelming in small rooms and it's more convenient to move around rooms.
I usually get buyers remorse when I "upgrade" items such as this but not this time. The upgrade in quality was instantly realised. (edited)

Can't agree enough about the quality of this speaker. Had one for a year or so now and it was probably one of the best purchases I've ever made.

This JBL Speaker provides a good Boom Boom sound. But certainly many people prefer a real life experience of Boom Boom rather than just the sound of it.
For £129 you could get a whole night Boom Boom experience, not just the sound In Pattaya. (edited)

Not sure why this is cold? JBL make the best portable speakers by far. I have Sonos to compare too and the app / plug is just a pain

Not sure they make the best portable speakers by far. The best value speakers yes. Any similar sized Bang & Olufsen speaker will beat it fairly easily in sound quality but yes, you’ll be paying a few hundred pounds more
