A steal and a great monitor for the price... I bagged one last time HUKD managed to secure a discount back in April... it cost me £137.96.

My advice, buy it if you need a new monitor. Then, read all the reviews that are available while you wait for it to be delivered. Once it gets delivered, if you don't like it just return it! Rather than dither and allow everyone else to grab one while its on offer and then find, once you've decided to buy that there's no stock left! Which is what I did the time before I pulled my finger out in April, I finally made my mind up only to find they had run out of stock! If you do your research, read the reviews you'll find that it generally attracts positive feedback and in the main that is based on its RRP of £219.00

I bought this monitor not for gaming but as an eventual replacement for my existing Dell UltraSharp U2713HM 27" monitor that I bought back in January 2013 which is still going strong (touch wood) but as it's 10 years old now I'm grateful for every day it springs into life!

So, whilst I do a little gaming it will mostly be used as a day to day monitor working within MS Office, internet browsing and watching various movies and TV via Plex. In the interim, and while the U2713HM continues to work into its old age, one of my daughters is enjoying the benefits of this particular monitor. She's studying photography and its proving to be a pretty good monitor for that purpose so don't let the 'gaming' in the title mislead you into thinking it's only really for the gamers out there, it's a good all round monitor at a very good price!

If you want a monitor for older consoles like the base PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch this could be a good entry and maybe if you have an aging gaming PC that struggles to do more than 1080p. This is outdated tech and 1080p is going to be pretty bad looking on a 27" inch screen even if your eye-sight isn't great. 1440p is however a very achievable resolution for gaming now especially with image reconstruction techniques like DLSS and FSR2 which make it easier to achieve higher resolutions on lower tier graphics cards. I Wouldn't buy this unless you specifically need 1080p and want to avoid up-scaling.

Not knocking your comments re this monitor...which I'm assuming is possibly aimed at gamers and not those considering buying this monitor for day to day use, watching movies etc? Correct me if I'm wrong please...?

I'm no expert when it comes to monitors and appreciate input from those that have a little more knowledge than me.

With regards to gaming... I'd certainly fall into the 'older' console bracket but do have a fair number of PC games on Steam and similar platforms etc.

My eyesight isn't great LOL! but is 1080p really outdated tech for the average Jo / Joanne now or are those comments directed at the 'serious' end of the gaming community?

My 'old' Dell UltraSharp U2713HM is capable of displaying 1440p via DisplayPort or DVI but although my even older Dell XPS8300 desktop has a DisplayPort connection I just use HDMI and thus 1080p... am I missing out would I notice much of a difference?

Can you suggest any sub £150 27" monitors from a reliable manufacturer capable of displaying 1440p as a possible alternative to this one?

Price appears to have dropped down to £139.00 now!

No codes required to get that price... just checked that TELEGRAPH5MON code and it took £6.95 off bringing price down to £132.05!!

If considering buying I'd also try going through either Quidco or TCB who are offering 7.7% and 7% respectively... always worth a punt!

I'm looking for these specs exactly, but with 1440p (165hz, gsync, non-hdr, IPS, 27"). Can anyone thats in the know think of a monitor like that?

With the way GPU performance or at least performance per £ has become almost stagnant, 1080P the new 1440P!

Maybe monitor manufacturers should use a controller and scaler from their TV lineup. If they can claim the upscaler users AI and is better than native 8K* I'm sure they'll find buyers.
    * When viewed at certain angles on a blue moon night between the hours of 23:59 and 00:01...
