Fourth studio album by the Irish rock band, originally released in 1984. The band wanted to pursue a new musical direction following the harder-hitting rock of their previous album, 'War' (1983). As a result, they employed Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois to produce and assist in their experimentation with a more ambient and abstract sound. The resulting change in direction was at the time the band's most dramatic. The album's title is a reference to 'The Unforgettable Fire', an art exhibit about the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.

Not at this point in their career though. This is a great album, although I haven't enjoyed another since.

This was the first music I ever bought, I think I was 10 or 11, maybe 1985 or 1986. Cassette and I remember where I bought it and it was a Saturday, my great auntie gave me the money for it

It is a great album, completely lost interest in them after Actung Baby/Zooropa but I've listened to this album a few times since. This was the start of their golden era mainly due tomBrian Eno producing this album and following albums.

This is nice vinyl to have with nice phitography but I'd rather have an original pressing. I don't have this on vinyl but I do have the Joshua Tree (great gatefold album photography) and Rattle and Hum. I have some more too.

Seen them too maybe 1994 in Belfast, maybe Zooropa tour as they had a big lemon on the stage, got into VIP area too right in front of them

I have this remaster and the OG vinyl, great LP, innovative at the time and set the stage for the Joshua Tree, lost intererest in the 90's pop stuff though
