Given wrestling games history on the Switch might be worth waiting to see how the performance is first... (edited)

Don't think it's the most graphically impressive game on any console, so thinking it might be alright. It's the No Mercy style gameplay I'm looking forward too.

I think the main dish is looking like a helping of Day of Reckoning with a side portion of No Mercy. I don't have an issue with that, but I think the AKI game purists might have an issue.

If you want pure No Mercy/Revenge/VPW then keep an eye on Ultra Pro Wrestling, due out in 2024.

Yeah, I thought I was being pedantic by thinking this is not No Mercy. But… it’s not.

Not to mention the fact that VPW2 was vastly superior. Ditto WCW/nWo Revenge.

Having spent far too much of my youth playing the AKI games with my friends, I’m excitedly off to google Ultra!

Ah shame it's no longer eligible (just tried it on the Switch version). £38.49 still good price though 💪

Thanks Monster. Arrived on release date. Good price too. I'd say Monster Shop is ALL ELITE.

Got mine today and initial thoughts are

    - performance on Switch feels sluggish ! Maybe it’s just me on that but everything is sluggish except (somehow) if you play a match it’s fine - although not sure if my lack of counters is me being slow or some lag

    - I knew entrances were short but was not prepared for how short! Seems a bit silly to have the customisable pyro and camera angles as by the time you do anything the entrance is finished!

    - gameplay is a lot of fun, need to play more but it feels really back and forth right now and really refreshing vs the well ingrained 2k style. The description of easy to play and difficult to master is honestly perfect. I can win a match with Kenny Omega but to do all his signature stuff and in the right order is a skill

    Looking forward to playing more

Wanted to follow up and say it is much more stable in docked mode, I guess it’s downscaling in handheld or something.

So far this looks like one of the most fun wrestling games in a long time. Bringing back the old No Mercy style of gameplay which fans have been crying out for. Lots of fun little things in there I think it’s such an interesting game as it’s clearly made by fans (Kenny Omega etc) so I am really curious .

Also for those worried about performance I think the game is made with the switch in mind - if you look at the graphics etc it’s not trying to win any beauty awards.

Thanks for the post have been waiting for a deal on this!!

Looking forward to finally playing AEW No Mercy

Not been tracking AEW development, No Mercy would be some big shoes to fill, is it living up the hype?

Seen this behind closed doors and if you're like me, an 80's kid growing up in the 90's playing No Mercy on the N64, I honestly think you'll love this. It's got all that, very arcady like that was. Plus as an added bonus there's a load of mini games in there like something from Mario Party. There's a load of entertainment to be had. If you're a teen or in your twenties having not played the N64 titles, don't let the graphics downgrade from the WWE titles put you off. Looking forward to this!

Mine was dispatched today and with the battle royal mode for stadium stampede supposed to be added later on looks a good game
    Aerobiz's avatar
But has it actually moved? Had dispatch same as you, but not given to Royal Mail yet.

I've ordered mine. The code wasn't working but is the cheapest I've seen. Cant wait for it to arrive. Not played wrestling games really since the n64 days and a big fan of aew. I'm all in on this 😁

I get why people will enjoy the "no mercy" style game and AEW fans will of course more likely to love it. However my gripe is this, it's living in the past just like the AEW brand. No Mercy was a game over 20 years old. Time has moved on and gamers are looking for more than just gameplay aspect. What was good 20 years ago doesn't mean it's good today. Just like AEW bringing in old WWE guys, that's not the answer, build your own brand, build your own game and try to make your own stamp in the business.

For me, the graphics alone look puts me off and it will be the case for many others too. Of course it will be loved by a niche audience just like AEW has a niche audience. AEW focuses on matches, whilst the average fan or new watcher really doesn't care about the quality of the match, they are there for something to be hooked on (a story) or a character which appeals to a mass audience (doesn't exist in AEW). Here they focus on the gameplay, average gamers or non wrestling fans seeing the graphics are just going to pass.

Good luck to those buying, I have no clue whether it's a good or bad game so don't let what I say put you off but it's disappointing for me they have just catered to a niche audience again, this game could have been big and they didn't capitalise. That's the story of AEW. (edited)

Understand what you are saying but it’s kind of the charm of AEW and tbh if they tried to make a blockbuster game like the 2K series then we’ve got 2 similar games in the market. So I really like they’ve tried to go in a completely different direction and cater to the hardcore fan base. I do agree with the other comments that it’s not quite No Mercy etc so that might be a bit disappointing but I am very excited to play it

Anyone ever shopped with these before? What they like with pre-orders?
  13. adamcolebabay's avatar
Bound to be a blast gameplay-wise, and everyone's been raving about the multiplayer. My only concern is what it's like as a solo gamer. Hoping the story mode holds up!
