Broadband throttling

My current broadband deal with talk talk is up next month. Am i right in thinking the vast majority of providers still throttle their speeds ? If so does anyone know of any providers that don't?

Ofcom clarified a few years ago that the net neutrality laws meant ISPs are not allowed to habitually throttle specific users/protocols and that throttling can only be done dynamicly for only as long as necessary for network capacity:

    This is the correct answer.

Thanks for all the comments, I don't feel I have been throttled with TT. It was more just a check before i start pricing up other deals, i wasn't aware throttling had been stopped by most providers I was under the impression it was still common

I didn't think any provider still did this, are you sure you're being throttled?
I'm with BT and they do not throttle, it's even published on the website to confirm - BT's approach to broadband traffic management
We’re proud to say that our broadband packages don’t have any speed restrictions. So, if you're on one of our packages, you don't need to worry about us slowing you down even at peak times. We won’t slow down peer to peer file-sharing either, so share away.

I thought throttling died years ago except when everyone was wfh during Covid

    seems poor practice to me

Throttling of torrent p2p traffic during peak was common but I've not seen either in recent years

I have not experienced any throttling with TalkTalk in the last few years. Or anyone else before that.

    Sky don't throttle either.

One thing some people don't realise is that some of the providers may technically exclude working from home in their T&Cs.

TT states it does not throttle

but that does not mean that contention will not detrimentally impact TT services.
