Just got an email with a link to quite some good discounts if you still after blink cameras. The biggest drop is probably on a One camera unit which is now down to 39.99.

I have several of these blink cameras and I find him really really good. I believe you have to sign up for a plan to store the images or view them. Luckily my plan is free because I got in right at the beginning and they always promised free storage which they've had to honor so I'm okay but I think you have to sign up for a plan if you want to be able to view these images you'll have to check I'm not sure sorry.

thought this was great when I first got one but since the subscription ran out its been a bit flaky, much prefer the tapo cameras now.

Exactly my thoughts, slowly switching to Tapo completely.

They ask for £25 sub for each camera a year it's a total rip off even if you have a prime subscription you will be charged extra even though it's an Amazon product...
    Kai_Kinder's avatar
Isn't there a sub for like £8/m for unlimited cameras?

And if course it's a different subscription, Blink were their own thing before Amazon bought them, if they added it to prime then prime would also increase in price... (edited)

    DO NOT BUY!

Since Blink nuked the functionality on the app for non-subscribers, seemingly trying to force people to go subscription, even the discounted prices are much more than they are worth. Chasing a refund on my whole system as it is now junk.

It is not so bad with a hub, thumbnails would be nice though.

Does anyone know, for Blink Mini pan-tilt with a sync 2, how long does it record (without a subscription) if movement is detected? Can I see recordings from the app while away on holidays?
    Valerie_Tay's avatar
B careful as it has a delay on it and stops recording after approximately 30 seconds. Clips can be forwarded / emailed for evidence. Once deleted, never available again. I have the blink originals from about 3 years ago. They have to be JUST in the right position or they won’t pick up the movement. Bit of a faff, but once sorted, quality is good x

Outdoor camera any good? Versus the ring outdoor camera tho

Look at Tapo cameras as you can record using a sd card - don't need a sub

Yeah, mines been terrible since the sub ran out. Selling the lot.

Do you have an hub, ours with no subscription is great, but we do have an hub, no hub and no subscription, is admittedly useless.

Anyone know what's a good deal to work with a Google hub? (edited)

If you buy a twin camera package do you have to buy two subscriptions?
    PlanetG's avatar
Nope. You connect them all to one account. There are 2 plans. Basic plan per device, plus for unlimited. (edited)

Funny how outraged people were when Canary forced people to pay a subscription for features that were free when they bought the hardware and no-one seems as bothered that Blink have done the same. (edited)

I think judging by the comments, a lot of people are bothered that blink is subscription based. My runs out in 7 days, and seriously reconsidering replacing my whole setup.

With no sub and using a sync module to record is rubbish, the lack of thumbnails is a killer!

Any offers for just the doorbell? I have the sync module 2 and several echos

After a wired system of about 3 cameras with very good video quality, especially at night and none of the security controversy surrounding many brands. We have food lights front and back. The Google one's fit the bill, but they are constantly recording/uploading and I only wanted it to when motion detected.
Thanks in advanced for anyone with an idea(s).

Whats the difference between blink and ring? I cant use this on my ring subscription right?
    Rajbir_Athwal's avatar
    Correct

I’ve always used a usb for recoding and more than happy with it. I have recently been buying Dekco cameras recoding to sd card and have to admit the picture quality and stability are much better and quicker than Blink (edited)
    PlanetG's avatar
So Decko also has a hub or sync module? Is live view live enough?
  15. Rob_B's avatar
In case people didn't know.. If you add a new camera to your existing non subscription account you get another 30 days of cloud/live record etc.
No idea if this works repeatedly if you remove/add the same camera but I assume it doesn't.
    StarSpangledFan's avatar
Could you buy one from Amazon, add for the free subscription, then send it back for a refund?

    Rinse and repeat?
  16. vegalz0r's avatar
I would not bother. Got 3 outdoor and 1 indoor.
You have to pay for cloud subscription to get previews on phone notifications when there is motion detected.
Even with a sync module, they don't show a preview image.

I contacted their support and was told not possible.

Truth is, they could if they wanted to but have purposefully butchered user experience to force them to pay.
We never wanted to pay monthly for Blink because of sync module. Feel ripped off and stuck now.
    floz's avatar
I had a right go at Amazon for this and told them to take them all back on the basis it was missold. It was only the doorbell for me but they did even though I purchased it a year ago. Worth a go. Chat then on customer service.
  17. Syralex's avatar
Avoid Blink. The camera system is useless unless you’re willing to pay £80 a year for their cloud service. Check out their Trust Pilot page. It’s scandalous
  18. MatONL's avatar
As a word of caution, they're not that good. Ignoring the whole subscription aspect, even if you just need live monitoring, they have a lot of connection issues and the app isn't great. They will also time you out if you keep the live view on for too long.

I've deleted my account ages ago and the camera has been stuck in cupboard for some time. Need to look at either selling it or just getting rid of it.
