sorted byWaterproofing is notorious for being pretty short lived on these.
Here's the thing- the 'water-proof' nature of these shoes is NOT in the upper material, or in the sole/upper seam (as would be the case with any proper water proof shoe/boot of quality), but in a semi-permeable membrane 'sock' built into the shoe. This 'sock' experiences catastrophic flex damage after a certain number of miles (not a particularly high number), at which point the shoe has no water=proofing at all, and long wet grass will cause your feet to soak. The shoe, of course, remains fine for dry conditions.
The fail rate of the gore-tex 'sock' (or competing alternatives) will be the same for cheap or expensive boots of similar construction- which suggests you'll be better off simply buying multiple walking shoes at 25 quid. Pay a lot? Get TRUE leather uppers in proper construction- not this silly fashion design that cannot be engineered to last.
