FEATURES

Scarily fast.
M1 Pro takes the exceptional performance of the M1 architecture to a whole new level for pro users. Even the most ambitious projects are easily handled with up to 10 CPU cores, up to 16 GPU cores, a 16‑core Neural Engine, and dedicated encode and decode media engines that support H.264, HEVC and ProRes codecs.

Liquid Retina R.
The best display ever in a notebook features Extreme Dynamic Range and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. HDR content comes to life in photos, video and games — with refined specular highlights, incredible detail in shadows, and vibrant, true-to-life colours. Each display is factory calibrated and features pro reference modes for HDR colour grading, photography, design and print production.
ProMotion.
ProMotion comes to Mac for the first time, making everything from scrolling through a web page to gaming super-fluid and responsive — while also reducing power consumption. With refresh rates of up to 120Hz, the adaptive technology automatically adjusts to match the movement of the content. ProMotion video editors can also choose a fixed refresh rate that precisely aligns with their footage.

Heads up — the camera’s 1080p HD.
Staying connected is more important than ever. That’s why the new MacBook Pro camera has double the resolution — 1080p — and uses a lens with a wider aperture that lets in more light. Together with a larger image sensor that has more efficient pixels, the camera delivers two times better low‑light performance.

More plugged in than ever.
Transfer photos and videos with an SDXC card reader. Connect to TVs or displays with HDMI output. Listen using a 3.5 mm headphone jack that detects and automatically adjusts for high‑impedance headphones. Connect to high-speed peripherals or displays with three Thunderbolt 4 ports. And fast‑charge using the quick‑releasing MagSafe 3 port.

Pro power meets pro keyboard.
For the first time, Magic Keyboard brings a full‑height function key row to MacBook Pro — with the tactile feel of mechanical keys that pros love. It includes new keyboard shortcuts for Spotlight, Dictation and Do Not Disturb. And Touch ID has a new, tactile ring that guides your finger for a fast, easy, secure way to unlock your Mac.

Three studio‑quality mics.
Thanks to mics with an up to 60 per cent lower noise floor, MacBook Pro can capture even the subtlest sounds. And the three-mic array uses directional beamforming so your voice always comes through loud and clear.

Six-speaker sound system.
Four force-cancelling woofers reveal notes up to a half-octave deeper and fill the room with up to 80 per cent more bass. And the high‑performance tweeters project clearer, fuller vocals.

Spatial audio.
Thanks to the room‑filling six‑speaker system and advanced algorithms, MacBook Pro supports spatial audio when playing music or video with Dolby Atmos, creating a sophisticated, three‑dimensional soundstage. Combine that with the Liquid Retina R display, and it’s like having a portable cinema.
Pro apps. Unleashed by M1 Pro and M1 Max.
Over 10,000 apps and plug-ins are already optimised for Apple silicon. And Rosetta 2 seamlessly translates apps designed for Intel processors for use on your new MacBook Pro.

Designed with the earth in mind.
The new MacBook Pro has been carefully designed with the environment in mind. The enclosure is now made with 100% recycled aluminium. And we use recycled rare earth elements in all the magnets in the product. MacBook Pro is free of numerous harmful substances, and all the virgin wood fibre in our packaging comes from responsibly managed forests.

Is this worth it over other 3rd party refurbish sellers that are currently cheaper? For example it's available on MacFinder for £1345 macfinder.co.uk/pro…me/

Looks a decent deal, but the condition is a bit ‘who knows’ whenas from Apple it will look brand new. Also not sure if the warranty of with them or Apple… Apples is amazing in contrast.

I’ve ordered one of these over an m2 air with same ram & ssd. Hopefully made the right decision!

    Great choice.

The M1 Pro is better in many ways.

Supports 2 external screens vs 1 for the M2 Air
Has faster SSD with 4 chips vs 2 for same capacity on M2 Air
    Superior built-in screen
    3 Thunderbot/USB4 ports vs 2
    SD Card Slot
Generally more robust. Many Airs have ended up with broken screens due to a tiny spec of dirt getting trapped between the keyboard and screen. The M1 Pro has greater clearance between the screen and keyboard making this less of a problem and the general thicker build makes it less likely to flex or bend when being carried in a backpack etc.

The only downside is the Pro is a little bigger and heavier than the Air.

I would most certainly go for the M1 Pr over the M2 Air given the prices.

We'll just an update on mine...

Had it for 3 weeks (1 of those weeks I was away on holiday without my new MacBook) and just like that, the backlight failed. Currently waiting on the replacement to arrive...

Not off to a great start.

I got rid of my PC for this laptop. Over a year old now and works everything I throw at it. Prem pro has crashed a few times, but that's standard for adobe. Would recommend.

decent, the refresh rate on the air is it's worst thing imo. but if portability is important the air is better. if you're unsure if you need the extra ram and cpu then you don't.

Trying to decide on a refurb upgrade from a 2018 MBP, any suggestions for best value for £? Not doing any 3d rendering etc but using photo/video editing software.

Been looking for a while and was going to get a m2 pro 512gb ssd for around £1k but have been worried if performance would be good enough for the money. Is this with the extra ?

damn I am saving for a new car but if i had a little more money I'd upgrade my 256GB / 8GB M1 Air to this. That XDR display, extra ports, extra horse power. Keys upgrade. Great laptop for this price.

I have played with them a lot in Apple Stores and own a M1 Air (which I love and is wonderfully small and light) but I don't think this 14 inch/extra thickness would bother me much. If you used it first hand for a while, I can appreciate you may be wiser, however.

Just ordered a space grey this afternoon. Had enough of my few year old HP pavilion sounding like a jet engine, rubbish browsers and the last windows update that killed "local security authority".

How much were these when they were released? £1799? Hopefully last me a long time.

Seem to be OOS now. (edited)

Yes OOS and glad because my 2018 model works just fine
