I'm about ready to pull the trigger and move from my 5600x, the reason for me is getting rid of micro stutters in VR for MSFS [i mainly play Simracing titles too, and know ACC benefits from this cpu]

I have been running ACC across 3 1440p monitors with an RX6750xt and Ryzen 3600, Like you was expecting an uplift from this as ACC likes a CPU.
Nothing, No uplift what so ever, Yes it was a bit smoother, But that's not worth 200 quid after selling the 3600, Was just GPU limited, so look at what Resolution you play at and what GPU you have before jumping.
I sent mine back, Cos untill I get a better GPU it's a wast of CPU power

Still too expensive- buy a 7600 for 200, put the saving to the MB, DDR5 has price crashed, and the AM5 gives you a platform for years to come. Time never favours old tech, and the Zen3 faces the rapidly approaching Zen5, a massive tech leap over Zen4. I'd say this Zen3 part should now have the same price as the 7600 at 200, to make sense today- in the USA it kinda does, in the form of the 200 quid 5600x3d.

For sure a 5800x3d will be good for 60-120fps with very good lows for years to come, but when the Zen5 launches, owning it will seem rather sad (for ambitious PC gamers).

You are assuming everyone is only purchasing this CPU for a brand new system. People are only purchasing the 5800X3D to upgrade an existing AM4 system (well I hope so).

Some people may not be able to afford or may not want to pay double the price for a brand new AM5 system that will offer similar performance (7600X vs 5800X3D) instead of only purchasing a 5800X3D for an existing AM4 platform and then upgrade to AM5 once the 5800X3D starts to struggle (which won't happen anytime soon). By the time you will need to upgrade, AM5/DDR5 will have improved and prices will have dropped even further.

If you are building a brand new system right now, switching to AM5 will make more sense. (edited)

I’m am hoping for the 7 7700 at this price in the Amazon sale but I dought it.

If you're using it purely for gaming, this beats all but the 7800x3D. It's an incredible piece of engineering, especially for £150 less than its successor.

This is also around £50 cheaper than the 7700, and then you'd also need to factor in an additional £50-60 extra for a motherboard.

If you're on AM4 already then there's no real reason for an entire platform upgrade. If you're building from scratch, it's definitely worth weighing up whether you absolutely need the latest and greatest. RIGHT NOW it's not worth paying extra for anything other than the 7800X3D (edited)

    that’s 7000 series CPUs (AM5) not 5000 series (AM4)

At this point I'm not sure if anyone would have the self control to not pull the trigger for the difference of £2.58

    £2 shy 🤝🏽

Hot, as someone said above if you already have an AM4, getting this for Gaming is a beast, beats every 7000 cpu by 20-50% in fps except for the way more expensive 7xxxX3D series, somehow amd kicked themselves when the first 7000 came out and i saw in gaming benchmarks no other new cpu could match in frames this beast. I assume for productivity 7000 could make a point but from my perspective (gaming) 7000 is a hilarious fail.
    Yahyasajid's avatar
20%-50% isn't quite true, the regular non X3D CPUs still occasionally beat the 5800X3D

5800X3D is closest in performance to the 7600X/7700

    Don't forget a decent cooler.
You don't need to spend a fortune, something like a Thermalright Peerless Assasin 120 SE will only set you back around £40, usually a bit less (the White one with aRGB fans is only £32.99!). (edited)
  9. MaxJenson's avatar
It's a great chip, but when you look at something like the 5600, that is not only £120-30 cheaper in price, but is also 90% the performance of this chip. Look at it that way, and this isn't really a hot deal. (edited)

5600x3d is running out of market space!
Shame we'll never get to see one on this side of the pond 😞
    slipd's avatar
I'm sure my mate has "acquired" one from a legitimate online US retailer, on pre-order. It's on par with this one though, price-wise and I know which one I'd prefer... (edited)

Good price, keep in mind technextday has god awful customer support in return for these prices.
    slipd's avatar
That's handy to know! Have you had personal experience?
  12. Mikharper's avatar
I have a 3600 currently and a good cooler, would all I need is up to date bios (I have checked and it supports this chip) and a bit of thermal compound for a fresh application?

    What's your mobo
  13. toge's avatar
For those very much price per frame minded.

On average this only provides on average over multiple games a 15% uplift over a 5600X which you can buy for 130 or less.

    15% of 130 is around £20

So I am being half sarcastic about waiting to drop to £150 but genuinely if you want more frames you're better off switching to am5 if building new
    FearOne_'s avatar
What about 1% and 0.1% lows?

Upgrade from 5600x feasible or foolish?
    Yahyasajid's avatar
If you've got a fast GPU and cash to burn why not

Me personally I've got a 6800XT and I'd probably save for AM5 at this point, DDR5 is very cheap, Mobos are becoming more reasonable in price and used CPUs are pretty inexpensive so you could probably upgrade to AM5 for £200 if you sell off your AM4 platform

hi have a 5800x and an rtx 3080..... I want this but I think If I sell my 5800x I'll be paying probably around £100 for this cpu. Is it really worth it?
    PopBot's avatar
It depends on the games you play, lots of games will see no real performance difference, and some will give a substantial gain.
  17. mxttkeep's avatar
Would anyone be able to give me some suggestions of specs for a new PC - I’m just looking to play Microsoft Flight Sim 2020. 1080/1440p most likely - thanks!
    PopBot's avatar
I'm guessing that you have a budget?
  18. Ash_Rana's avatar
    This or the 7700X?
    The.Fat.Cat's avatar
7700X easily beats this for gaming, if you're planning on buying a new motherboard and RAM anyway.
