Dont forget the ratio of conversion if youre starting a new GPU sub has been changed to 3:2 gold:GPU down from 1:1

A 3 months gold code should still extend an existing GPU sub by 50 days - as long as these 6 months come as 2 x 3 month codes - so dont apply a single 6 months code to an existing sub

Note. Microsoft changed the conversion rate for this hack last week so no longer works as well. Ratio is 3:2 so if you buy 18 month you get a year of ultimate in return. 3 years gives you 2 years and so on....

I got 3 x 1 year live from cd keys Turkey using vpn and activated them, then bought 1 month GPU and converted all 3 years to GPU last week and it cost about 80 quid in total.

You can do it on an expired account with no issues, it is a 3:2 ratio now though rather than the old 1:1

This is base subscription often required to play multiplayer online (I think most free games are now allowed to play online for free also)

Ultimate is gamepass subscription which allows you to do same as above but also includeds a back catalog of games to download, stream from cloud , and play on multiple devices

Cloud is xbox games running on servers that just display on a console or PC or now some TVs - as long as you have a controller

You need game pass ultimate to access cloud

Gold isnt a game pass subscription but as is mentioned in endless threads if you have an Microsoft xbox account, apply gold codes, then apply a code or offer to start a new game pass ultimate subscription, every 3 months of gold will become 2 months of GPU (edited)

My GPU expires in 4 days after 3 years stack.
I assume i let it expire and then when and how do i do the transfer again from new gold cards to GPU and how do i do it. Do i add to my account and then convert to ultimate or do i need one month of ultimate to stack Gold to?

Firstly remember that its 3 gold to 2 GPU months - so thats 60 days if its expired for 3 months gold instead of 50 days if its not yet expired - its no longer that different any more now

Wit no active sub you apply the gold so it shows as gold on the account then apply a code for GPU or a 1 month offer if they offer it and those gold will convert when the sub starts - up to 3 years GPU

yeah but I always worry one of these code generator things might guess your code once they've sent you one and activated it like a lottery ticket lol! Proceed with caution but you'll more than likely be fine

A year left of gold or a year of game pass or PC game pass or game pass ultimate?

If you have no active game pass sub then this adds 6 months gold that will convert to 4 months GPU if you start a new GPU sub

If you meant you have an active GPU sub with a year left then a 3 months gold code adds 50 days to the GPU sub - so only get this if it comes as 2 x 3 months Gold codes (edited)

Xbox Live Gold maybe getting discontinued soon and replaced with something called Gamepass Core, if the reports today are accurate I have no idea.

Got a Xbox this week. I don’t have a game pass or ultimate subscription yet. Is this the best way of maxing it out as much as I can for the next two years. Happy to also use the VPN route if significantly cheeper.

Would I have to buy three of these 12 months cards if the ratio is 3:2?

Max it out for three years, 36 months is the max. Converting from gold to GPU is the best way to do that.

Game pass ultimate works the same on Xbox One, Series, and on PC too. The ratio is the number of months GPU that gold months convert to (3 gold gives 2 GPU) when starting a new sub - still cheaper than buying a GPU sub or even GPU codes.

Its no longer fair to say its "much better" to wait for a sub to expire as 3 months gold now only converts to around 60 days GPU when starting a new sub - it will add nearly the same 50 days to an existing GPU sub without waiting for expiry and the chance of yet more ratio changes.

Hopefully gold will get back to under £7 for 3 months - so under £5 a month for GPU - because actual game pass releases are as weak as they've been for a while. Apart from Starfield coming the £12 a month back in rewards is the only thing making GPU worthwhile right now

Gold gives you just online multiplayer access and the couple of "free" games each month.

Ultimate includes Gold as well as Gamepass which is effectively like Netflix but for gaming. So all of Microsoft 1st party games are on there at launch, plus EA Play so majority of EA releases end up on there within about 9 months of release. Plus lots of other games, new and old, indie games etc.

Didn't know about the 3:2 year change from last week. Sounds like we are better of just sticking to stacking 3 years gold. My neice who I was going to stack 3 years tukey gold on her series s only plays fortnite which is free and 1 game from gamepass (Assassins Creeed Origins). By adding the 1 month GPU to convert the 36 months gold you loose a year of GPU. Sounds also like no point waiting for a sub to expire anymore as stacking then or during an active gpu are the same ratio 3:2?

In her use case though buying the game and sticking with gold seems to make more sense.

When Gold changes to Gamepass Core its likely any Gold codes still being sold will convert to Gamepass Core months 1:1 or extend an existing GPU sub if you have one - but they could change the 50 days GPU extension from 3 gold months ratio were getting now

Gamepass Core might be good enough for some people as it includes some games but its likely there will still be a conversion to GPu if you start a GPU sub - and the new 3:2 ratio sounds likely - 3 months Gamepass Core to 2 months GPU (edited)

This is now showing as £16.79 - the days of cheap Gold codes may be ending.

Before if you had many months left on GPU it made sense to wait for it to expire to get 1:1 conversion - but with Game Pass Core and now the ratio is already 3:2 (very close to the 50 days from 3 months if extending) it might be worth thinking about extending.
