These Sennheiser HD650 Headphones are back on sale again at the same crazy low price of just £229 which is the lowest price I've personally ever seen them go for, and also includes free UK shipping!

This headphone is known for it's warm and detailed sound, is highly praised and respected amongst the Audiophile community, and is an absolute pleasure for long listening sessions.

Please note that this headphone is not for people who want bass heavy headphones, as they instead have a more natural and balanced sound which works well with a large variety of music.
These are headphones you put on when you want to relax back and really enjoy your music in all its glory, the way it was intended.

It should be noted that these are not ideal for use straight out of a mobile phone, Laptop etc.
These headphones will require a headphone amplifier to drive them properly and explore their full potential.

At £229 these headphones are an absolute bargain in my opinion and I'm quite surprised that they've come back on sale at the same amazing price.

If you haven't ordered one at this price, my advice is you get one now while you can!

Overview

Unmatched. The Sennheiser HD 650s are a favourite amongst audiophiles. Able to transport you to a different place with their stunning accuracy and detail. Their natural, balanced response delivers the most authentic reproduction of your music.
The benchmark in headphone design. An open back construction creates an immersive stereo field. Enjoy hours of listening in total comfort, thanks to velour earcups that envelope your ears. You get the supreme listening experience due to Sennheiser's insistence on handpicked components. All the way down to the high-quality titanium finish.

Hear Every Detail

A staple in the collections of hi-fi enthusiasts and audiophiles for over a decade. The Sennheiser HD 650s deliver a sound that has become revered for its outstanding clarity, balanced mid-range, crisp treble, and powerful bass impact. The HD 650's sonic performance is accurate and natural. High-performance dynamic transducers coupled with a specially-designed acoustic mesh ensure you can enjoy precise sound delivery with immersive depth and definition.

The drivers in each side of these premium headphones have been hand-selected based on ultra-narrow tolerances (+/-1dB). Highly-optimised magnet systems ensure your HD 650s boast exceptionally-low harmonic distortion, making sure you hear every nuance exactly as it was intended. The open-back design puts you in the heart of an incredibly impressive sound stage, giving you the sense that you're stood in the room with the musicians themselves. The Sennheiser HD 650 Audiophile Open Dynamic Headphones give you a listening experience that you can feel, rather than just hear.

Exceptional Build Quality

It's all well and good having headphones that sound incredible. But what if they're uncomfortable or poorly built? You'll only get to experience that phenomenal performance for a brief period of time. Sennheiser know this, and that's why they build their headphones to such a legendary standard...

An intelligently-designed headband gives you maximum comfort and stability. The clamping force of the HD 650s has been meticulously calculated to ensure that your headphones stay firmly in position, even when you move. They don't make you endure that awful skull-crushing sensation that some headphones can produce. Combined with ultra-soft velour ear cushions and ergonomically-designed elliptical ear cups, you'll be able to lose yourself in your music without having to make constant positioning adjustments. The physical feel of your headphones is just as important as the sound they deliver, and the Sennheiser HD 650s combine both in perfect harmony.

    Thanks Mark,
They took it off sale when they ran out of stock and the price went up on the website to around £339 if I remember correctly, so I then expired my advert.
When I re-checked back the next day they had it re-listed as back on sale at £229 so I re-posted the advert on here for everyone to take advantage.
Great community on here, and glad to know we're all helping each other and looking out for the best deals.

I have the hifiman sundaras but they're a little tight on my ears so not so comfy for long periods of listining. How do these compare as an alternative?
    PC59's avatar
Overrall they are worse, Sundaras are the budget kings but the HD600 is a good alternative if all you want is solid mids, I was tempted to get these HD650 but after watching reviews looks like I won't enjoy them so I am waiting for a deal on HD600 to pair with my Sundaras

How do these compare with the HD 660 S?

HD660S - 150ohms - easier to drive from a mobile device / standard headphone output.
Brighter but thinner sound profile when compared to the HD650.
I'm not personally a fan of them.

New HD660S2 version is the improved version of the HD660S.
New version is 300 ohms like all of the other HD6-- Series.
HD660S2 is like a combination of an HD600 'brighter' with the 'smoother sound' of the HD650 combined.
I do like the sound profile of the new HD660S2.

At £229 the HD650 is a great buy.
HD650 has a smooth detailed sound that is known to be highly enjoyable and fairs well with most types of music.

They have a natural bass, but don't expect subwoofer style bass as they are not that type of headphone.
The HD650 treble is also very refined and smooth with zero fatigue making the headphones ideal for extended listening sessions.

The HD650 headphones will sound best when partnered with a quality 'but not necessarily expensive' headphone amplifier due to their 300ohm impedance.

In my view at the bargain price of £229 these HD650 headphones are simply a must have for any music lover that is fortunate enough to be able to get them and pair them with a quality amplifier and source.

    Hope this helps.

Chord Mojo 2 + HD650s is a great combo - both items are currently on sale so grab em both while you can!

Second that - I use a Mojo 2 too with 800S and a very old pair of 600s. It's superb.

Great price for these amazing headphones

To get a matching quality DAC and headphone amp won't be cheap

You're absolutely correct, as these are great sounding headphones at and amazing price and will scale up well with higher quality audio equipment, significantly raising the bar of their sound quality.
A great combination for these headphones that I recommend is a Schiit Magni + (Headphone Amplifier) at £135 and the Schiit Modi + (DAC) at £157. Total £292 from Schiit UK.
The Schiit Audio products mentioned above often sell out quickly but do provide excellent value for money, so if you can afford them I highly recommend them for use with these HD650 headphones, and you may well find that you won't need to purchase any further audio equipment for a very long time.

Great soundstage on these, worth the money if you really like your music to sound good.
    Very comfortable too! (edited)

The Sennheiser are know to have terrible soundstage compared to the competition

If you can afford them I'd recommend you get them as at this price it's a simply awesome deal.
I think they all now come in the crappy cheap boxes unlike the old versions from years back that came in the more premium style hard cardboard presentation style boxes.

The HD650 headphones provide a warmer sound than the other versions but are extremely enjoyable to listen to and would be a great addition to your Sennheiser collection in my opinion.

Hope you manage to get them and enjoy many happy hours of music with them.

paid this price for the 650s off amazon about 5-6 years ago and would pay it again tomorrow if they broke, amazing headphones. have replaced the pads a few times but they're fairly cheap.

regarding amps/dacs: i was originally using an asus xonar u7 which is a usb-powered dac/amp combo and constantly heard rave opinions about how much better the 650s sound with "proper" dacs and amps. i paid over £200 for the schiit modi2/magni2 combo and to be completely honest i don't hear much difference over the u7. also the magni2 gets hot as hell and i don't even want to use it during summer months because of the heat it's outputting whilst the u7 is always cool. the schiit stack can get MUCH louder but i don't use my u7 anywhere near max volume.

one thing i do recommend people using windows to try is equalizer APO + peace GUI. if you search online for oratory1990's hd650 equalizer settings and find out how to import them into peace GUI you get a noticeably different sound from the headphones which i prefer over a flat eq. it might not be for everyone but it's my preferred way to listen with these headphones.
    Christian_Wolff's avatar
100% agree, there's no reason to spend all that money on a Schiit stack, and my Magni 2 always feels like it's about to burn a hole in my desk. That Asus DAC/amp combo is likely nicer to use than the Schiit stack as the volume knob is actually a sensible size.

You'll get a much bigger sound difference from EQing than anything you can throw money at.

Very tempted, but very happy with my Hifiman Edition XS + iFi Zen DAC/AMP v1. Still, heat!
    PC59's avatar
Oh you basically have a end game setup , I have Sundara + If Zen DAC V2 and various side options like AKG K702, Philips X2HR and Sony MDR-1A

Would these still be viable if I live with a brother and the train tracks are right outside our door? I’ve got the pc38x’s which are open back and i don’t know if I want to pull the trigger on these if therell be a lot of bleed from the outside

The HD650 headphones are Open Back Headphones and provide very little isolation.

Based on your listening environment I don't recommend the HD650 headphones for you, and I personally advise you to go for a 'Closed Back' style headphone.

most overrated pair of headphones of all time they might have been good 20 years ago but not now
0 soundstage 0 presence flat lacklustre bass and timbre
They need a very powerful tube amp to improve some of the above
I sold mine they'd sat in a box for 6 years after I got a pair of fidelio x1's
save your money and just get something like the fidelio x2hr which sound better in every way compared to these
People who rate these have simply never tried alternitives and these are their only HQ headphone
I have no reason to slate these I owned a set for 6 years and they never got used they were only good when nothing better was around (edited)

I personally don't agree with the comments regarding the HD650 as I think that they have a truly enjoyable and natural sound, but I do appreciate that everyone has personal preference and choice which is perfectly fine.
I guess what's good to me may not be good to you and vice versa.

The HD6-- line of headphone has always had a strong following and I guess many people must still like their sound as they continue to sell well for Sennheiser.
The Drop HD6XX I believe was one of their best selling headphones ever and I think may even still retain that title today.
The Drop HD6XX model is basically a discounted version of an HD650 with a different colour, of which I'm sure most people are aware of.

As I say, I do respect your views that you don't like the HD650's, but I just wanted anyone else not to miss out on at least giving them a try as I think they will please a lot of people out there, and especially at the discounted price. (edited)

are these better or airpods pro 2?

I don't really think these two products are really comparable with each other.
HD650 Headphones are wired headphones that ideally require a separate headphone amplifier and to be listened to whilst being more or less being stationary.

If your needs require wireless functionality or features for mobile use then I'd probably imagine that you'd be better of with the Airpods pro 2 that you mention.
