Just a quick update - team have been looking at this and it appears to be an Edge/Cloudflare issue. We have specific code to not serve AVIF to Edge users but on certain occasions it is just ignored hence only some images not working. As there will be some work with 3rd parties it may take a bit of time to fix but we're working on it
Touch wood this should now be resolved. Deals posted prior to this evening (24/07) may have the odd image not showing but otherwise you should have working images on deals with Edge
Please let me know if you have any further issues and I'll get it flagged.
well done, cheers
Morning /
We recently increased the max image size from 3000px to 6000px - to accompany the change we also started using AVIF due to its improved compression efficiency. I've tested on Edge here and also have the issue so i'll flag to the team
Thanks for flagging. (edited)
Glad you posted this OP. Same bug here. Happens in Microsoft Edge Version 114.0.1823.86 (Official build) (64-bit) (chromium). It also happened in the previous Edge version - I updated Edge today hoping it would fix this bug but it did not. I'm using Windows 10. This bug has been happening since 1-2 days ago. I tried deleting browser cache, testing with all extensions disabled, and running the browser in private mode, to no avail.
Example of Microsoft Edge (some images will not load) :
Firefox web browser 115.0.2 (windows 10) show all images fine.
Example of Firefox (no issues) :
The Hukd app on my iphone also shows all images fine. I have not run into any issues with other websites. If you would like me to do any testing, let me know.
Edit : I forgot to mention, Once I click the deal, and the product page appears, the image will display correctly on that page. Microsoft Edge :

Update: I think I have worked out why some images are displaying and others are not.
I used the inspect tool in Microsoft edge to see if I could spot the difference..
When inspecting the source code of the "non working image", I copied the .jpg link from the source code and pasted it directly into the address bar of Microsoft Edge. Instead of showing the image in the browser, it initiated a .avif file download.
I inspected the source of a working image and same as above I copied the .jpg link, pasted it into Microsoft Edge, but this time the image displayed in the browser. No avif file downloaded.
"Unfortunately, currently Microsoft Edge does not support avif format files due to design, you can only download it instead of viewing it directly."
Here is an example video, comparing both working/non working images, recorded in Obs :

same issue here with edge, issue not present in firefox.
Experiencing the problem on safari too (iPad)
Having same issue thought it was just me
Anyone else experiencing missing thumbnail images on deals when using Edge browser since the introduction of the new format?
There are showing fine when using Chrome and Firefox.
Yeah me too!! Just come here to find that out myself
Same here, many missing images in Edge
Same for Edge on 2 machines here as well.
Same issue here- please fix!
Same here, it's been happening for a few days now.
Happening for me as well, really annoying!!
It's all working again for me now. I have not changed anything so no idea why.
Still missing most thumbnails for me in Edge
It works fine in Chrome (edited)
I think this is related to Edge support for AVIF images (which is what the missing ones are, and the ones we can see are jpg)
Missing for me also using Edge. I was worried my graphic card had problems. Hope it gets fixed soon!
There's another post about this too. Also problems on Safari browser.
I've two identical laptops running Windows 10. With the Edge browser both laptops are missing thumbnail images, usually the same thumbnails are missing on both, but not always. With Chrome all images display as normal.
All good for me now.
Edge updated recently and now I am getting this when browsing Hotukdeals. Other websites like BBC and Amazon loading fine.
Using Chrome and other browsers solves the problem so is an Edge problem.
Anyone getting the same?
I had that for past few weeks on my main PC, but not on my laptop. Both running edge and synced, i even went through all the settings, tries disabling all addons, clearing cache etc.. Nothing worked.
Then today I had a windows update on my main PC and all is good again.

According to this thread, Microsoft Edge does not support .avif files : AVIF format not supported in Microsoft Edge? - Microsoft Q&A
