Review for the microphone, he has the gain at 100% which is why it's a bit noisy/hissy/clipping -

In my experience 24 bit makes little difference compared to something like a hefty condenser diameter.

I'd want 16mm at least. 3 x 14mm is hedging bets on this being a jack of all (or no) trades. Who here is actually going to be interviewing someone, sharing a £20 (or £60) microphone?

Was hesitant initially due to the price but still pulled the trigger. Can confirm - it’s defo legit. Heat heat heat..

It's decent, but calling it a 'professional studio' mic is a bit much.
Sound quality is very good for the price but not sure it's £50 worth.

Reviews for it aren't exactly stellar, but not awful either -
    amazon.co.uk/JLa…TF8

I bought one anyway to add to my mic collection, would be rude not to.
Added this review to the details but may as well put it down here too in case anyone skips past it
He needed to dial back the gain though, it doesn't sound great at 100% -

    Got mine yesterday.
Easily worth £19, just have to find someone to give it to as I already have around 10 mics, lol.

Can this be attached to any boom arm, like this cheapo one at Amazon - amzn.eu/d/f…rpk ??

Just want a simple arm with a pop filter.
I was looking at the Tonor one but this will work out to be a tenner cheaper
    ------------------

Based on your experience, would this combo (above) be better than this Tonor Deal - amzn.eu/d/8…OY4 ?

    TIA (edited)

The Tonor is actually a great value mic too, if it's just for normal use (Teams or Zoom calls/streaming/solo podcasting) I'd probably go with that over this JLab purely because it has a single larger condensor vs the multiple smaller ones of the JLab.

Niether of them are great at blocking out background noise though, so if you have a loud mechanincal keyboard you might want to go for something else.

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond

My use case is essentially that - Zoom, recording instructional videos and maaaybe a podcast in the future. I don't think I would be using a keyboard when recording so that shouldn't be a problem, and when on a call, people are expecting that anyways.

Is there another Mic that you might recommend in a similar price range which might be better than the Tonor? I can always get a boom arm at a later stage so can be mildly flexible on price. I'm just trying to get a better result than the shabby audio I get from my webcam or my bluetooth buds.

There seem to be so many which look alike and are clearly from the same factories. Too hard for a complete noob like me to figure it all out

    Thanks again

Actually, if you haven't already ordered one, would you want one of these -
    whatgadget.net/one…ew/

Not sure if you've seen my other comments on the site, but I custom build gaming PC's to order so I've always got a stock of part and peripherals.
I have the FM1's both with and withough boom arms.
I don't normally sell for cost price, but I'm feeling generous, lol.
£20 without the boom, £25 with + delivery (no idea if I'm even allowed to offer to sell you anything on here but thought it was worth asking).
They're all brand new boxed, but I can test it to make sure it's all good before sending if you wanted.

    EDIT:

Actually, there's a seller doing it with 50% off and it's dispatched by Amazon, cracker of a deal -
    amazon.co.uk/gp/…c=1

They must be losing money on them at that price, probably have far too much stock to shift.
Might grab a few for my own stockpile, lol.

You can see the usual price of the mic without the boom here -
    amazon.co.uk/gp/…c=1

There are a couple of 1* reviews but I've sold loads of these with PC's and never had a single problem with them. (edited)

    OMG

That was so kind of you!

I shall go ahead with the one that you have linked to

Hopefully those 1 star reviews are from the technologically challenged and I don't end up with a dud.

At £19.49 it's a stonking bargain! You need to post that deal!

    Thank you so much

The seller doesn't have enough feedback so sadly it can't be posted. Looks like they only sell OneOdio products so might actually have something to do with the company or at least get stock cheap from them.

Let me know when you've ordered one, if they don't have that many I don't want to wipe the stock out before you get any.

You shouldn't get a dud, OneOdio are actually a great company, they mostly produce great value headphones/headsets (I've had a few pairs and still have 3 in my collection) but this is the first mic they've made and it was a pretty good first go.

Just noticed they now have an XLR dynamic mic, that's something else for me to try out (and add to my own large mic collection (not that I use any of them, I just can't help buying them, lol!). (edited)

It's 100% legit. Very fast delivery, RoyalMail 48. This mic costs $89 in the US, £18.99 here. Absolute bargain. Crystal clear recording, no issues whatsoever.
