Very decent price for the 11700B variant of the NUC 11 extreme and excellent for someone looking for a high powered but very compact system.

The cpu is an optimised version of their laptop

Add laptop ram, NVME drive and your own GPU (takes upto 3080ti). Very capable of mid-high end gaming. Much better value for money than the deal I posted previously and probably runs cooler. Intel has recently exited the NUC business therefore likely the decent pricing now. These were well over £1k at launch and not great value then.

If anyone one wants a bigger Gpu, you can put the compute element in this case:

    ebay.co.uk/itm…bFi

although you lose pcie 4 and will need to get a 24 pin cable for motherboard (case originally designed for nuc 9)

Intel have given up on NUCs, doesn't affect this deal.

Intel will stop making its own NUC mini PCs

    engadget.com/int…Qfl

There's a huge variety of far cheaper Chinese Mini PCs now so I guess Intel just gave up because of competition. (edited)

Especially with the rise of the AMD boxes with much superior APUs.
Minisforum make something similar to the “enthusiast” line with upto a 3070 mobile inside.
However, there’s no true “extreme” line competition, unless you count the erying hybrid motherboard and are willing to make your own SFF pc with that.
shame that Intel discontinued this line but makes financial sense. Latest 13th gen extreme nuc was in name only too as it’s close to 11L.

Pulled the trigger on Ballicom one, what are people getting in terms of reasonable GPU for this? (edited)

    Im using my EVGA xc3 3080 10gb.
    make sure it’s a 2 slot card - anything wider won’t fit.

I managed to get one, should come Monday, need to find some decent ram for it, might have to put the gfx on hold for another month or so looking at the prics of 3080 Cards

    I went for this:
    amazon.co.uk/Kin…-12

also the 6700xt deal would go well with this (if it’s 2 slot)

Just to add, the tech support with Intel direct is incredible; had to use it before on a NUC (bought through a third party) and they shipped me a brand new one within 48 hours. (edited)
    hcc27's avatar
Seriously, they shipped you a whole new NUC unit because you were having issues with a 3rd party product? That's incredible!!

Found this detailed review on these NUCs. The case is impressive

Hi. Looks good. Good for 4k video editing in Davinchi? Won't be gaming. Also will be recording video and audio for podcasting so needs to run quiet
    ktown's avatar

It has thunderbolt 4 which would be helpful for productivity.
performance depends on GPU you put in but the CPU is very decent.
It is quiet on reviews mentioned but gamersnexus says it has a weird fan curve which can be easily fixed!
  11. ktown's avatar
    Author
Yeah. There was one with CL18 but poor reviews and 132 for 32gb 🥵.

yeah should work but you’ll have to use the slot where the graphics card goes so would have to use APU instead. Maybe an external version is better?

Absolutely great deal. Sad that Intel are stopping making NUCs. Other companies may have copied the form factor but Intel knocks it out of the park with the upgrade options and the build quality/cosmetics. What other companies have produced mini PCs which let you add such 64GB ram a 3080ti and 4 internal drives. They look so good on your desk. Complete jewels.

Exactly. People compare cheap aliexpress stuff to Intel NUCs. This is great for someone looking to upgrade to a very small SFF setup with minimal hassle. And 3 year warranty!

This + Gpu, memory and storage or a Mac mini m2 for under £600?

After months of hovering over various mid-tier gaming PCs posted on here by the mighty sarden84 and others, I've pulled the trigger on this. It's got the core bases covered in terms of PSU and CPU, allowing me to spec it as I want.

The only lingering doubt is stuff-uk. Their website is a bit dog-eared. Anyone had good/bad experiences with them?

    Great find, OP (edited)
    liltman's avatar
Just curious, what is actually included here lol? Cpu, PSU and case only? Or motherboard too? Like what would u have left to buy. I build my own but never did a NUC before and curious what they normally include and I wanna compare prices of this route lol
  15. Sulphur.Man's avatar
Its arrived. Had a quick peek before reboxing it. It's certainly a lovely thing. Been a while since I've picked up a PC case that doesnt creak or rattle. Partly explains the original rrp

Think I bought the last one.
I'm a sucker for the small form factor PC as I use mine in the living room on my 55 incher for PC stuff and Media consumption.
Shame you can't update the CPU at some point but should last me a few years.
I've been subbing to Geforce Now Ultimate so might not bother getting a GPU for it. I don't really bother with games these days, though I'll probably grab a copy of Starfield and stream with their RTX 4080.

I pulled the trigger as well. I will share my thoughts when I receive it. Where can I sell my old case and components(other than ebay)?
    hcc27's avatar
You can try Schpock or FB Marketplace, though typically you'd get a lower price compared to eBay.
  23. megasnajper's avatar
FYI Ballicom now unsure on whether they will get it and when, also not sure what the final price will be.
stuff-uk.net price seems to be up now as well
  24. hcc27's avatar
Just received the EU plug version today from Stuff. Posted exactly as promised Aug 15th. Very well packed in a large outer. The thing screams quality. Haven't installed it yet but so far so good. Also states Intel 3y warranty on the box.

They still have all three versions (ordered once paid), though the price differentials between the three plug versions (no cord/ UK plug/ EU plug are mind-boggling). I went for the EU cord which is still the cheapest at £430, the UK plug version is £770 - yikes!!. Prices seem to fluctuate all the time.

Yes I really like mine. So easy to build and amazing performance in such a small form factor and relatively light weight. When I posted the deal for the i9 version, someone was trying to argue the case for beelink/minisforum vs this 🤭. I think it’s going to be a big miss from the extremely sff market
  25. Sulphur.Man's avatar
Mine's due from DHL at 1pm today, which is good turnaround for an order made yesterday afternoon and a £5 shipping charge. Obviously, this makes me totally unready to do much as no RAM or storage purchased yet. 1st world problems

Forgot to mention but you’ll also need a kettle lead (from your old computer should be fine!) Cheeky that they don’t supply this…

The last NUC deal went out of stock before I could complete my research. Anyone tried kodi on this with madVR?
    ktown's avatar
    Author
    Hi which deal was that?
This is different to the standard NUCs as in you add your on GPU (although it has an APU).
I think it would depend on the GPU you used but this can take up to a 3080ti as the CPU is very power efficient (65W vs standard 125W desktop 11700K).
  27. riprui's avatar
So what does this actually include and what is needed?
Can see there is no RAM or GPU, seems like only a PSU, Case, Motherboard and CPU?
    ktown's avatar
    Author
    Barebones kit.

    Supplied:
Case with skull logo and under case strip RGB (makes you a fast & furious enthusiast, Intel is a family company)
NUC compute element with 11700b CPU (65w, based on laptop tiger lake architecture and superior to desktop equivalent).
Built in Wi-Fi and thunderbolt 4
650W gold SFX PSU - important to note that this is proprietary and may be difficult to replace.

    Required:
    Laptop RAM
    Storage - upto 4 x NVME
GPU (there’s limitations to size, 2 slot GPUs only). Processor also has own GPU too
  28. Smoggy1970's avatar
    Takes upto 3080ti?

So why wouldn't it take a 4060 ti or 4070?
    ktown's avatar
    Author
Probably would tbh. Has to fit size and power restrictions. This was released before those cards
  29. iLikeDiscount's avatar
How would a RTX 3070 founders edition perform in this - I only ask due to the cooling design of the card.
    ktown's avatar
    Author
Not ideal as the fan would blow onto the psu but there are YouTube channels who’ve said that it’s made no difference. I’ll try finding a link
  30. david25uk's avatar
Will the standard NUCs also be discounted?
    ktown's avatar
    Author
No idea tbh but would expect to do.
I only saw this because I’d posted a deal to the 11900kb version (which I regrettably bought).

    Anygood for a plex server?
    ktown's avatar

65w tdp so not the lowest wattage for a Plex server but plenty of option for storage upgrade for such a sff. Encoding should be fine!

I like the look of this, but you should consider building your self a itx sff  at this price in the long run you’ll have a better upgrade path
  34. Syphon's avatar
I've ordered one. Advice on what to buy storage wise etc appreciated.
    ktown's avatar

Only takes Nvme drives (upto 4). The bottom slot shares lanes with the pcie slot but shouldn’t have any massive effect on Gpu performance.

Also you’ll need laptop (sodimm) ram. 3200mhz speed and low latency as possible
  35. Cartoonhead's avatar
Just wondering if you could stick 64gb RAM in this instead of the 32gb and would it make any difference?
    Sulphur.Man's avatar
    It comes RAM-less, and can take 64Gb (2 x 32Gb). I've gone for 32Gb (2 x 16Gb).

Using it now - it's a lovely bit of kit. The 4 x M2 slots is quite something.

No dedicated GPU purchase yet - can't decide. I want to read up on Intel ARC cards and the Intel sizeable BAR mobo feature, which this PC has.
  36. Ringdog's avatar
Is the Inno3d 4070 ti the only ti card which would fit?

What about the standard 4070 FE would that fit?
