    this any good?

Airs have a proven track record of being good reliable laptops, however, the new M chips take it to almost pro level performance for the average and semi serious users.

It's more powerful, uses less power, battery lasts longer and is super quiet as it has very little heat given off and no fans whizzing.

Obvious all Apple products are overpriced to some degree but this is probably their best value laptop.

I received one on Monday, and now the price has dropped! Any chance of getting a refund on the price drop?

Won’t give the difference. Have to return and reorder which makes zero sense.

First they said I can’t return as opened/used. Then they said I could. Doesn’t fill me with confidence at all. I know someone who returned an item that they then lost, that they still charged for. Total mess that was.

First and last time I’ll order from them. Useless.

Give it a try though - may get lucky.

    Real world battery life ?
    Ram upgradeable ?
I keep thinking of trying something different. Might go for a 16" laptop if some variety and put Ubuntu on.

Nothing is upgradable , maybe the battery can be changed. But you won't have to do that for 5years.

The battery is the best on the market in it's category.

So the 20% didn’t work, called up today and they said all Apple products excluded from the new sign up discount so I told to cancel the order

Worked for me although my post (and others) regarding the additional 20% discount were deleted by HUKD as they were apparently in breach of their terms as they mentioned credit application (you didn't need to purchase on credit). As below, this item was not among the exclusions (that may have changed).

I missed the amazon deal and managed to get a silver on Amazon last week for £775, wish I had waited because I wanted the grey!

Is this good enough for an architecture student? Any other recommendations

Might depend on what software your course uses/recommends? Also how big a screen do you need… if designing garden shed 13” be fine, but if planning a skyscraper, perhaps a bigger display,

But if purpose of MacBook is typing notes and writing papers, this is an exceptional bargain for £611 with berry 20% intro offer code.

Anything much different, in Apple Laptop World, perhaps means the MacBook Pro 16”, M1 16gb 512gb (or 1tb), which Costco and Very have some good pricing on. 16” is much better for design work, and it has hdmi for easier monitor connection - although I think usb-c to hdmi connector works with MacBook Air, haven’t checked myself, but planning to.

Personally speaking - If MacBook Air M1 does the job, it’s less weight/value/risk to carry around, you can add the iPad 9th gen 64gb for £229 (287 less 20%) - 2 incredible bargains - then take the £1k you save over 16” pro, put it in post office premium bonds, or a single company share, and that might pay for a needed/desired upgrade in 4/6+ years.

When the price of ONE item/product (pro), can actually buy you TWO (entry base level), its probably TOO EXPENSIVE for most circumstances. (edited)

Is it safe to order from very, I have seen lots of reviews that they send wrong/opened items?

M1 or M2, what would people recommend. I'm just conscious the M1 is now 3 years old and thinking about long term Apple Updates.
