LMAO you can get a TP-Link AX72 that supports 5400Mbps (so nearly twice as fast as this POS) for under 100 quid off Amazon.

Although I have the TP-Link AX72 there's some things you got to keep in mind when comparing TP link routers to Asus routers.

Tp-link has more of a subscription based model if you want to make the most out of their router such as their security features, while Asus does not have a subscription based model.

There's more to the debate, and I'm sure for anyone interested can do their own research. But Asus routers and TP-link routers are both great. (Of course depending on model and as such)

Another Note: Going to be a long while until 5,400mbps will be affordable and be mainstream to resendentials. I will upgrade my router by then and probably wifi 7 devices will be mainstream during then anyways. (edited)

If you pay that much for a router, I think the Banana Pi R3 is the way to go

Yes, and no. I'm an it engineer and sometimes just... can't be bothered.
I know that pi could be a better solution, and I enjoy my tinkering, but sometimes I just want a working solution with minimum extra work.
The problem is, now I'm going to look into pi routers and spend hours researching.
    Damn you.

I bought this router a couple of years ago so I could stream PCVR games to the Quest 2.

It works perfectly with my Virgin Gigabit and I haven't had an issue. It uses a good app to control it too.

Did you have to connect it through the virgin router to get it to work? I would only want it if it fully replaced the virgin one

£50 extra for flashing lights & the word "ROG"

is there any benefit to getting an AX router if all my devices are only AC compatible (or worse)? Does it improve capacity in any way for Wifi 5 devices?
    Alex_H's avatar
Not that I'm aware of no.

Will this make me better at getting headshots

If it doesn't you should definitely consider requesting a refund (edited)

Feel like you're just paying for the ROG Strix brand? I got a Asus AX5400 Tuf router for that price a number of months ago which has better specs... Ugly as sin though. I dunno why they feel the need to make routers look like alien spaceships or something silly. Even some of the non-gaming ones look ridiculous too.

It really irks me that a lot the decently specced routers have this horrible gaming aesthetic. It's a cheap, nasty, tacky design, and I don't want any lights on my router, never mind RGB lights. (edited)

Bought one a bit ago, overpriced but have to say no issues.
Interface is clean enough and plenty of features.
Mobile app is nice for quick access

No complaints really here, oh, it didn't vastly improve my WiFi over a virgin hub3.
It did make it easier to set channels/bands though and that did help a bit.

You can get the TUF AX6000 for like £15 more elsewhere. Actually less if you have the 15% off from Amazon.
