Just FYI. Visitors to Cuba now need a VISA to enter the United States, ESTA isn't enough.
On a personal note I would avoid it because indirectly you are filling the pockets of a communist regime. A shame because the people is lovely.

    Communism: bad.

    Capitalism: good.

    Thanks for clearing that up

Cuba is a fantastic place, Havana should be on everyone's list of places to visit..

I'm sorry but I don't think the risk is worth it. There have been reports of visitors being denied entry to the US that have been to Cuba but don't have a stamp in their passports. How the US border force found out we don't know. But if you go to Cuba and then lie on your esta application, I'd expect that they would put in extra checks on your visa application.

You must really want to go
to Disney land… look at the state of the US probably best to avoid anyway it’s safer

    Yeah absolutely Lukeyboy

    Massive energy costs.
    Strikes everywhere.
Massive rises in food costs( Mainly due to B………t).
Even McDonalds seems like a luxury nowadays .

Don’t forget We are talking about third world Cuba , right?

At least they have beautiful weather and gorgeous looking ladies

Cuba is a really sad place.....Moving about from one place to another is an ordeal in itself...Buildings are totally decayed , and most people are on the make to survive...

Of course the regime have none of these issues....I realise US sanctions impact on Cuba but the vast majority of folk there, despise the regime and are scared to say anything critical on camera.

i suggest looking at a few videos too.

Hopefully someone from cuba has done equivalent videos of housing estates in the uk.

Doing an all inclusive in Cuba means you are stuck to just one place in this beautiful country that offers a lot more in terms of beauty and rich culture. If you really want to see Cuba and meet its lovely people, just buy a return air ticket, stay in casa particular, and travel throughout the magnificent country in the Viazul buses.

All inclusive is not a prison, you can still do whatever you want

It's just not worth it due to risk of being denied entry to the US. And tbh why would anyone wanna risk easy entry/access to the US over going to Cuba of all places?? The US is the greatest country in the world. Every non-US resident who has access to US soil needs to cherish and protect their access to the US. I personally would never risk my easy access to travel to the US over a tiny communist Cuba.

Are you American by any chance. The USA is awful, the people are rude and if I was told i could never visit again it really wouldn't bother me. Cuba is 1000x nicer than the states.

In the news atm about some former Cuban official failed to declare their share interest in an oil giant(Shell) .
Wait I read wrong it was a former “Honest “ CONservative MP

"swim up bar" .....is that one of those where people pee while sat on the stool?
    teddyedward1's avatar
Yes, filthy pigs. We’ve watched them numerous times, sat there all day while saving a sunbed with towel on only to stagger back to pick the towel up and leave the pool area.

Absolutely loved Cuba when we went last year! At the time nobody said about the US VISA issue but I've since had a new passport and it's cheaper to get a new one for the OH as he has a stamp in his. I've researched and details are not shared (I don't believe the countries communicate on any level ) so going to the US with no stamps on an ESTA should be fine!
Don't let it out you off - this country is absolutely stunning. The people are wonderful and it's an eye opener to see how they live. It's humbling. Don't expect wine or certain drinks / food every day as even the hotels don't know what they get each day!

It’s irrelevant if you have a stamp as all of your information is held on the chip in your passport. You could end up with a 10 year ban and deportation if you travel and get stopped. Apply for a full US visa if you’ve travelled to Cuba after January 21.

Had some great holidays in Cuba over the years…one of my favourite destinations of all time…don’t let anyone or anything put you off…the internet is not your friend when it comes to comments

Is it safe to travel solo there?
    FieldMarshal's avatar
I wouldn’t recommend it. Food shortages for one and basic items are sometimes scarce even in a 5* resort. I wouldn’t waste my money just to see run down buildings, old cars and communist propaganda. Also the risk of being denied entry to the US in future. Just not worth it.
I do a lot of solo travelling due to my work and being single. Best to go elsewhere….I’ve just completed half of Europe by road and will do the other half early next year.

Save your money - I was there last October and it was a very sad time. I've been before:

    * Rolling blackouts
    * Massive food shortage
    * Even a 5* my ex insisted on for a few nights was ok-ish food (at best).
    cigbunt's avatar
Ok it’s not the height of indulgence but surely that was all part of the experience.

Stayed here for 7 nights in June and the hotel was ok.. the food anywhere in Cuba is not great but manageable, take your own condiments as ketchup/bbq/mayo are not easily found. Be prepared for lots of mosquitos too! The beach is fantastic though and well worth a trip to Varadero for that alone. Trips to Havana are recommended, there is so much culture and history in Cuba but it is clear to see the struggles of the Cuban people.

I was in Cuba this time 5 years ago.

Wonderful place and people, don’t know if things have changed since then but our hotel was fantastic, clean, great staff and facilities. Only food shortages were random things like tortillas
