sorted byThat should future proof this machine for a long time to come! My old man’s still using my hand me down 2009 MacBook Pro
I am a video producer for a living and this looked good as a second, travel laptop.
Do lighter work on it compared to my windows laptop.
I'd been waiting for a 16/512 at a decent price without much luck, so to get 16/1tb for 999 was ideal.
Finally replacing my (upgraded) 2010 MBP!
Hoping to get 7+ years out of this.
I have a 2020 Intel Air (really bad timing but it wasn’t my decision - Apple replaced my old 12” MacBook which they broke) which is the reason this would be a hugely underwhelming purchase. It’d just be nice to be able to play 60fps YouTube videos and not despise my own laptop.
was that a bricked logic board? (edited)
10 minutes on the phone with Apple sorted the purchase date so the warranty started ticking from the correct time.
Absolutely loving it so far, and a timely upgrade from my now defunct MacBook Pro.
Thanks again for the heads up on this
heat added.
Does it matter for longevity that they are discontinuing the M1 and from my understanding no devices will use the M1 after they have cleared the current stock.
Macs have always been supported for years: 7-8 years according to the MacOS Sonoma wiki, though they seem to be phasing out Intel Macs more quickly now. My assumption is that they’ll support their own silicon for at least as long as they used to, if not longer. But just an assumption. No idea though whether they’d support the M1 Air for 8 years from now (given they’re still selling it) or 8 years from its release 3 years ago.
Also they can keep running happily enough for years after they can’t have the latest OS.
If no one else answers, I'll reply again once mine has arrived. (edited)
Thanks
