This is good, but some stores, their coffee machines mysteriously go off for permanent cleaning, or won't work.

Watch out for the random rinse cycle.
Get a cup of rank dishwater if you're not alert!
  2. blahblahblah1234's avatar
Also, get a free coffee at Caffe Nero, if you add your MyWaitrose card number into the Caffe Nero app and make any purchase.

Not often though and John Lewis isn't everywhere

Anyone know if you can pay and have a extra shot when I’ve tried it in the past i thought it very weak to drink black
I see a lot of people like it and understand it’s just my personal taste
    blahblahblah1234's avatar
Since they added the annoying card scanners, you need 2 cards to get a 2nd shot.
I have a screen shot of the missus card.

Been trying to find the cheapest way to get a free coffee, the cheapest so far was a 2p new potato, didn't have the balls to go to the cashier so went through the self checkout.
    blahblahblah1234's avatar
    A free newspaper is cheaper.
Just got mine, fully receipted with a free coffee added.

I once put a brocolli floret through the self serve for 5p.
Was for a school art project. (edited)

I've done some shopping for quite a while (years not months) but never took this offer up. I bought a travel mug from John Lewis and it's too small for the amount that's decanted, it looked vile but tasted not too bad after I'd poured a decent amount away and cleaned up with loads of napkins, so not very environmental.
    blahblahblah1234's avatar
You can hit the stop button when the cup's full, or if you want less water.

You can buy a single 15p banana if you're not after biscuits
    david.whitmill's avatar
    my banana was 23p!

Their coffee is pretty ropey tbh, not hard to make better at home
    Neostar's avatar
That's why they switched to using Nero coffee
  9. njl30's avatar
Been getting their free coffee for years, except during covid as it was out of action. They have tightened up getting a coffee now as you have to scan your Waitrose card at the machine. Nero coffee is quite good get my free weekend paper too (edited)

That would be good, but unfortunately the Waitrose in Newcastle has closed down!
    BodisBest's avatar
They closed the one in Barry a few years ago too. Hardly any in Wales.

Hasn't this been available for about 5 years?
    anaxom's avatar
Yes it has been but someone creative came up with this biscuits idea of spending less for getting free Waitrose coffee.

I always fall at ‘step 1’…….
  13. daddybr00's avatar
I remember when they used to offer completely free coffee just for having the card, I would wander down every afternoon for a free cup and to buy all the reduced cakes and bakery items, then they stopped it as they realised it was clearly too popular
    jungleboy123's avatar
so what happened? I thought it was still free as long as you buy something. Do they charge now?

Don't forget to take your own cup. Struggled to get my Contigo Byron under the nozzle but it just fitted. (edited)
    AX31's avatar
You can move it up to fit larger cups
  15. hamsy's avatar
I’d need to buy a cup each visit! Does that count?
    blahblahblah1234's avatar
If you have O2 Priority, get a free cup from Greggs.
No obligation to drink the Greggs coffee, it works well as a drain cleaner.

Couldn't you lot just buy a croissant
    BodisBest's avatar
Yes but, I'm not keen on croissants.

I thought this ended a while back

    Started again in November

It was re-started a few months ago.

I've three stores near me, two don't seem to take any notice over who's using the machines but another one police it like hawks and insist you have purchased something before allowing you to get a free drink.
    Rebellion's avatar
Just wait until your local Waitroses install the card scanners at the coffee machines! It won’t allow you to select a drink & dispense until you’ve scanned your mywaitrose card. On the otherhand, it works without having to buy anything (edited)

John Lewis have gotten a bad rep for these non deals. Since they stopped their real coffee n cake deals, I stopped shopping there!
    blahblahblah1234's avatar
Good tactic, switch your shopping to another store that offers free coffee & cake!
Honestly, did it annoy you that much?
Just be grateful, it was a nice freebie while it lasted.
Actually, you can still get free coffee & cake in JL, just less often.

    Non deal
This is a real Waitrose deal. You can get a free hot drink every day. (edited)

Not a new offer. Has been around for years. I thought everyone knew you only have to buy a banana.
    BodisBest's avatar
Sound like my mother, now that they don't sell mini men for dunking.

Did someone mention Bromley Market. Phones

so many cheapskates here after free coffee
    (edited)
    blahblahblah1234's avatar
Bromley sounds good, sadly no Waitrose or cheap phone stalls in my quiet village.
  23. playamonte's avatar
Now I wonder why all these things are “free”
Yes as you all know they are not as you are exchanging your data / where you are / what you are buying etc.
    blahblahblah1234's avatar
Scepticism and suspicion best left in the 90s when Tesco first introduced Clubcard. Now every store is at it, they're just gathering data to help improve the business.
I've not heard of anyone coming to harm from it.

Be more worried about what Google and your mobile phone is recording.
