I think I would prefer this to the Trarger due to charcoal vs pellets. Would you think running costs would be more for pellets vs lumpwood ? Obviously lots of variables to take into account but generally speaking.

Thank you for your great work on all things BBQ, much appreciated!

A bag of decent lumpwood costs the same as a bag of pellets nowadays, but burns a little longer than pellets overall

I get about 14 or 15 hours cook time out of a 9kg pellets at 225F and about 11 hours at 375F (grilling temp) on my Smokefire

My Pit barrel for an 8kg bag of Weber Briquettes I get about 3 x 6 hour cooks as an idea on lo&slo cooks

Personal point of view although my mates Masterbuilt 800 cooks great food, he has had problems with it like others and although warranty has covered these, it is only a short warranty compared to the Traeger. (edited)

I have just got the 1050 gravity series and although I’ve only cooked on it once so far and am yet to try any high-temp cooking on it, I love it.

I watched some YouTube video comparisons of the Camp Chef vs the Masterbuilt for smoking and they were close but the Masterbuilt edged it. It was also a LOT cheaper at under £900 delivered.

Great bit of kit. Bought one in May and used it every other day even in rain. Makes great ribs using 3-2-1 method and reverse sear steak is amazing. One thing these can do over the pellet grills is they can get up to 370deg so give your steak a nice sear but can also do low temps for smoking. The only issue I've had is a faulty door swicth which masterbuilt sent me a new one.

    great product for smoking but........

The build quality for the money is abysmal. The smoking world has a lot of complaints about these products but when the switch works and its not rusting it's amazing.
