A QNAP TR-004 4-Bay expansion box OR can be used as Direct Attached Storage.
The TR range IS capable of Hardware RAID - just not on the network - via USB.
In comparison the TL range of expansion boxes is just a JBOD and needs an existing RAID system to manage it.

For me I think I'll expand via an 8-Bay TL box, but have been keeping an eye on these.
Note: NO disks include - empty bays.

Amazon box says import fees included. I've not bought something like this so don't know how it works.
