This is 2D Homeworld. Thematic, good music, good story, but generally slow going and the same "rock / paper / scissors" mechanics and methodical progression. It even has the same "super zoom out" tactical map and shapes for different classes of unit, but you obviously can't send units in the 3rd dimension.
If you're talking about the old Dune RTS that was akin to Command & Conquer with base building, this is not it.
Prefer the Kate Middleton art work.

good tactical game but plot is more of a side show to homeworld than anything that is memorable. one definitely worth actually installing and playing for RTS fans
