4.0x50mm are cheap too, and in my experience more useful. (edited)

Thanks that’s what I’ve gone for and thanks op for this post!

These are fat screws and single thread, if using on wood , you need to pre drill holes .I find the Spectre screws from Toolstation the best value and better screws reduce/prevent wood splitting and no need to pre drill. Ive used all the expensive ones but on some projects its not worth getting expensive screws.

    Also picked up 3 x 25 mm (£1.81 200 pack) and 5 x 70 mm (£2.16 100 pack).

Boxes of 200 for most normal sizes range between £2 and £2.50 normally at local builders and at Screwfix. Nothing wrong with this price, but it's nothing to get excited about. Have a look at Screwfix if your looking to build stock in the sizes you want. Loads of sizes for £2

You'll need to show me these £2 screws at Screwfix.

The cheapest box of 200 woodscrews at 50mm or above is £4.29.
    That's for 4 x 50mm.
Anything above that is size is a minimum of £6.69

It's only tiny screws like 3 x 20mm that are in the £2 range. (edited)

I've just bought a bag of tungsten tipped screws. Never gonna use 'em.

These are fat screws too being 5x40. So make sure you know what you’re getting. Good deal though. They do the torx head which I prefer.

Was thinking the same, make sure you pilot the hole well before use .
40mm length screws are better in 4s for most jobs.

What size rawplug can these be used for, is it 6mm?
    SirThomas's avatar
    • 8mm diameter plugs are suitable for No 10,12 & 14 size screws.
6mm is fine for screw size 6 & 8, these are size 10 so no. 5mm/Gauge Size 10. (edited)

Is there a delivery charge on these, I don't really use Amazon as it's very confusing doesn't show the delivery charges clearly always has something else until you go to the final check out, this says free delivery over ,£25 for me
    SirThomas's avatar
That's right you need to spend £25 for free delivery but if you are a Prime member its free, I paid just £2 and no delivery charge. A good way to get Prime is cancel your TV licence and use the money for Prime.

Anyone else confirm it’s OOS or gone up to £5.75?

What boring mother trucker deleted my comment because I said it's always good when something increases speed and ease of insertion. Apparently it's because it's off topic. Think what you want but it is always good.

Great price for 200 and will come in handy in the future, can't go wrong with getting it delivered for free to a local locker. Thanks

Thanks OP & other contributors. Have bought a fair few of several sizes. Always seem to have plenty 50mm plus but stock of 25mm to 40mm never to hand when needed. Will be for a couple of years now.

This was just posted again & merged with this thread, I made the comment "usually Dispatched Within 1 to 2 Months"

These are standard woodscrew, fit for more softer woods. i find the timco c2 screws from kal fixings the better option, to prevent self drilling.
