Forgefix. They are brilliant, especially for the price. They're passivated, so won't rust, countersunk, and they go in so smoothly I never soap them. Hardly bother with a pilot either, unless very near the end. I get them from Amazon, and look at the reviews. I'd say they are on a par with turbo gold, but less than half the price. Love them.

mattu

Decking screws or stainless steel would be a better choice.

HotUKDealSeeker

what do you recommend, and where can I find it? TIA

chelseablue

They are made from carbon steel, so will definitely rust if used outside.

Have been singing the praises of Yeelights and Xiaomi bulbs gateways and accessories. Not anymore. Dreadful support for anyone outside China. Bulbs that once worked and linked into Alexa are no longer doing so. Tried every server that could support my products. My advice therefore is that Hive have got to be a reasonable alternative. I will either opt for these or Philips in future (only when they are on sale lol)

BenRussell-bd420.22969

hive has been flawless for me with lights, heating and hot water.

dors01

My hive has been really reliable.

jameswalker457

Hives customer support is impeccable and I've not had any problems which was directly Hives fault with mine but links to other parts of CH system

Nexy

There's no compelling reason to go Hive for lighting. My only experience of Hive has been overwhelmingly negative on the home heating stuff, with reliability being a serious problem. If you want smart lighting stuff to just work, just go for Hue. If you hate yourself, go for Ikea's Tradfri. There's no point in Hive. I've added heat because fair play, that's a good price as the Hub retails for £80 on it's own (and is currently £67 on Amazon). Although no-one should ever pay anywhere near that for one.

That's us all screwed now, they are back to £19.99, so maybe it's time to expire the deal.

dusan

By the time they rust, the decking will be replaced twice. If decking is not coverd by a roof or a thick layer of paint, it will not last longer than 10-15years max. Those screws will live longer than that unless damaged.

FunkiestMonkey

Please can I recommend the ones with a slim head? I bought them from Toolstation. They come with the correct bit to drive them in. Reason is, I have built 4 decent sized decks and I always used the Philips wide head screws before and they always were visible. With the thin head screws they sink into the wood and become almost invisible. Can still reach if need to undo and the pattern of the hole to accept the bit is such that you get a better fit so less slipping.

veedubjai

Organic coatings are nearly always a barrier coating. That is to say they provide corrosion protection by forming a barrier between the substrate and the atmosphere, and if this is broken protection ceases. Still rusts since it's carbon steel if the protection is gone.

patrickrsx

These are the organic coated screws for decking.

I think Screwfix sell the box for about £7. There's a larger box too at a tenner, and the compartments are interchangeable. That said, I've found the compartments on these particular ones are slightly taller than in the Screwfix ones, so they need taking down a bit for a good fit in the other boxes. But I've got four this size and four large ones and just swap them about as required.

tek-monkey

I've been buying turbogolds when they are cheap, so have good stocks of the more obscure sizes. I don't need to use them often, I'm a data monkey not a chippy, but lately I'm doing a lot of hardware jobs in my 'spare' time and these are really getting my attention. At present I only have 60/80/100mm but I find I always reach for these over the TGs when I need that length, I'm going to get a few of these just for the variety. Didn't realise on my phone that these are removable compartments too, the box must be worth a fiver easy.

ThanksForThat

They're brilliant. I don't know why I didn't change to these years ago. I thought I'd try a pack and realised I was going for them all the time, rather than pozi's, so that was it. Luckily my pozi stocks were running down anyway so it wasn't a great sacrifice.

tek-monkey

You know what, I never realised how much difference the different head makes. It really does though, a lot less slipping even at obscure angles

TomF

Yes these are very good, they also don't fall off your screw driver as well.

Ordered...to go with my new DeWalt impact driver which arrived today! (y)

KendallC

I think I understand what you mean but the 'sleeve' doesn't appear to move at all. The only movement is the bit itself moving due to the internal spring. I feel sure I must just be being an idiot and missing something obvious but if you get the chance to post again once yours arrives it would be much appreciated!

heavygoodz

Not received mine yet - but you usually have to pull the sleeve of the holder forward (or back) then pull the bit out

KendallC

Can any one that has this set answer what is probably a stupid question for me. Once you put the magnetic screw holder over the screwdriver bit, do you simply use brute force to take it off again when needed or is there a trick to it? Mine arrived today and I just tried the holder together with the bit packaged next to it to get an idea of how it worked and now it doesn't want to come off again!

Got the TurboGold 1000pc box of various sizes a while back for a renovation and were pretty good from what I remember. If you need any of these sizes on offer I can't see why you'd spend multiple times more on spax screws unless someone has used both and can say that spax or another brand are far superior to these? With them being double self countersunk and having a sharp tip I'd think they are more than adequate for most jobs. I had some of these, along with some decking screws left out in the rain for a couple of months over the winter and didn't notice any rust or deterioration so seem to be well made. Might stock up on them while they're at this price.

Couldn't believe how much I got into the large bag and realised I could have got a bit more in if I'd perfected my shaking technique. Bag seems like 1-2kg in weight. Put in the large items then filled the gaps with small screws. Only just managed to seal the bag. Felt I cheated myself when after walking to the till a pocket of space appeared at the top of the bag. Only about 6 items are in the bag that I actually need at this moment in time, another 600 probably for future use.

Besford

Good deal but regular price. Larger bag is much better value. When you get home you can sit down for a couple of evenings and sort out your 'mixed' buy into the different sizes again! ;)

moosery2

I bought a whole bag of these about two years ago, and haven't used a single one.

slharbron

As a table top war gamer, 400+ 25mm metal bases (25mm Washers) for £2.99 is a bargain. Just be careful if you really fill the bag. A friend packed it as full as he could. All was fine, until the cashier dropped the bag and the seam gave.
