I have this, the USB C in it is low power, fails to charge a MacBook Air and slow to charge phones and tablets

Not planning on getting this now after the sage comments above (my thanks), but I was wondering - how many things can one run on an extension cord, safely?

Say I had my PC (500W), a monitor, a printer, and an amazon echo show. Is that even safe?

Any one in the know have a good rule of thumb?

13amps is the maximum allowed for a UK main plug, that's about 3000w before the fuse will go, assuming there is a fuse and the cables etc are capable (cheap crap like this probably has poor quality cable and often a fake or no fuse and should be illegal).

What you have there should be absolutely fine with a decent quality extension.

    No surge protector?

Not really needed in most of the UK.

The thing I find weird about this is the 1970s cord which looks like a cable used on irons.

Nothing more trustworthy than plugging your deep fat fryer and AliExpress Christmas tree lights in to your Addtam extension lead.

With all that lot connectied it should also act as a small portable fire when in use.... at least until the fire brigade arrives. (edited)

Don't trust these no name power strips with USBs... I had one (not this one, but very similar), worked fine for 3 years, then was charging something via USB, after 20 minutes or so it suddenly exploded, massive spark, some nasty smoke and scared the crap out of us. Luckily it was just before we went to bed otherwise who knows what would have happened...

Anyone else concerned with the "updated" plug that now has a fuse, as if i's optional? 6 sockets too with a possible no fuse or fake fuse. Big Clive would be disappointed I think and Amazon need to take responsibility for unsafe products being sold via them as people believe they are trustworthy.

Yes, these are junk, all of them that look similar. Sadly few people care and even fewer like to be told what not to buy.

ALL USB chargers are best labelled with YOUR date of purchase, and then replaced within TWO years at most. They all have components that are failing with time, especially the caps. But they are cheap enough to replace every two years. And then you avoid the scary 'electrical explosion' mentioned in a comment above.

The 'better' brands probably fail silently, but fail they will. The sad thing is that if punters accepted bigger casing, they could use bigger components that would have the longevity of your better PC PSUs.

Great. I’ve just bought extension lead. Another one….
Then cancelled after reading your reviews and comments (edited)

Why is it so difficult to find a decent, switched extension lead with more than just one USB C port? The only ones I can see are from companies I haven't heard of and have the build quality that Gerald Rainer would be ashamed of.

Ditto finding a double plug socket with two usb c ports.

Am i missing something in the way a USB C port works? Is something (physically/electrically) stopping dual usb C on extension leads or plug sockets ?

Look at Belkin, you may find one.
