Disable adult content filter in dashboard for much faster speeds. Check if phone is compatible with their 5G.
Paul_f1
How much does this restrict the speed?

Is anyone currently using a Smarty SIM in a mobile router like the TP Link MR500 or MR600, some people have said they've had trouble and data won't work when used in a router? eg: community.smarty.co.uk/t5/…923

I've been using it for a few months. Apart from needing an occasional restart it's all good. I'm using STRONG 4G LTE Wi-Fi Router 300. It was about £30 when I bought it (edited)

Currently using iDMobile, which use three, but the speed and service is pretty pants out of town. Would this be any better, seeing as it also uses 3?
Just wondering if 3 have contracts set up with these 3rd party providers and allow different coverage/speeds?
mrBrian
3’s signal is the same, whichever branding it uses I believe. (edited)

You should all move to Birmingham, great coverage here
SoftSack
Dont forget you can get all this for £12 a month on the social tariff if you are on one of the qualifying benefits
mrBrian
£10 with voxi social tariff. This is a good deal though if you aren’t entitled to social tariffs.

Unuseable network coverage in the Glasgow area.

Exactly my experience. Used to be better a year or two ago but now it's pants.

Sacked 3 off and saved myself £6 per month with this. Popped it in the router today and get the exact same speeds as I did with the 3 sim. No long contracts too. Win win.

Says 3G and 4G for data on the link
one_eight_seven
Says 5G also a little down the page.

I switched to smarty from O2. worst download speed and coverage in London (i used to get good reception inside buildings - gym, waitrose,... and with Smarty, I sometime loose access to internet for few seconds outside). micro drop on call inside building (with average reception) is really annoying.

I am in London as well, get great speeds on Smarty. It comes down to where you really are in London. Coverage checker helps a lot. But if it is showing good service in the coverage and you are still getting slow speeds, worth raising this with Smarty as in my experience they respond quickly on chat support.

I'm already using the same unlimited package at home for £20pm and then have 10% discount because we use a second sim with smarty. If I cancel the existing this month and use this, will it also get the 10% and how long will it remain at £16 over the standard £20?

Reading t&Cs it states 12 months at £16

As Plusnet has been bought out by BT I thought I'd jump before I was pushed in to a crap EE deal. I got the 60gb for £10 offer and 'so far' I'm getting a better connection in the hills around Matlock than I was with Plusnet piggybacking EE.

Seems Smarty don't support plugging in a phone. Is there any other that does with a low cost sim?
Paul_f1
Voip you mean? They support that

This is the worse network ever I switched to these for 6 months because I live in a 5g area but i could never get a 5g signal on my 5g phone,so switched back to EE great signal everywhere I go but 5g plans are extortionate on EE hardly get any data unless you pay over £30 per month,if you have any suggestions on cheap EE plans with 5g coverage would be most grateful for any help
SoftSack
Sounds as though its your area, this is excellent for 5g in my area
