Customs duty may be charged on top of the headline price, usually on items costing more than £135 Information

Best tablet available at this price specs wise. Meditek G99 which is about 60% faster than the usual Unisoc T616 or worse you get at this price point.
Android 13 instead of the usual 12 you get on these budget tablets and 8GB RAM instead of the usual 4/6GB and 256GB storage.

The only downside is no Widevine L1 certification. So no HD Netflix or Amazon prime.

Since this is <£135 Aliexpress charge you VAT at source, so you won't have to pay VAT + handling fees upon delivery. This brings the total price to £158.01

Remember 8+8 RAM means 8Gb RAM & 8GB from the shared ROM memory, these are not 16GB tablets

Bought one as soon as it came out and it’s excellent for the price. Good screen and nippy feeling compared to my folks Lenovo tablet of a similar price and also has the latest Android OS.

The magnetic cover is rubbish though.

If you are looking for a google certified tablet with widevine L1 then the Chuwi Hipad max is on offer for £139.99 with coupon. It has a snapdragon 680, not as fast as the G99 but will do light gaming and emulation. The only things missing for me are a compass (but it does have gps) and the lack of future security patches like most cheap phones and tablets.

Eta prime review gave it best budget tablet a while back:

Please beware it's very hard to deal with sellers on Aliexpress the buyer protection is not the same standard as eBay or Amazon the descriptions are often false just had a terrible experience buying a tablet there. Received a fake tablet and was required to communicate with chinese customer service which a nightmare I had to return the tablet at my own cost and lost 30% of value of the order and still waiting for the remaining refund! It's just not worth the hassle!

You can avoid that with a bit of due dilligence. Check how long the seller has had their account for, see if the price seems too good to be true, check their feedback and see if it looks real and not google translated into English, etc.

For example. This store has been open since 2019, the account has 5.5m followers, it has thousands of reviews within the last month, none of which say the items are fake. The price is only 10% cheaper than the official Teclast store on Aliexpress.

But yeah if you try to buy a £60 Samsung S23 from an account opened last week with no feedback, you're probably getting scammed.

This is a new name to the tablet market right? I read a comment on another thread for teclast tablet that it for children, so very basic build. But sure if that is true?

Absolutely not! Search for Teclast on this forum and you'll find Teclast tablet deals going back to 2012

Aliexpress pays the VAT for you when the cart is <£135
Yours will be hit by 20% VAT + handling fee when it hits the UK. You'll have to pay Royal Mail / DHL / etc before you get the item.

This is £133+ 20% VAT charged by Aliexpress at source.
Yours is £143 + 20% VAT + importer fee charged by the delivery company when it arrives in the UK. Royal Mail for example charge £8 on top of the VAT. (edited)

"The only downside is no Widevine L1 certification. So no HD Netflix or Amazon prime." This bit is such a deal-breaker

Thank you but I don't think it's worth the hassle ... the seller's name said Xiaomi store so I assumed it was Xiaomi products they were selling!
