Gb not GB / Mb not MB.

More specifically Gbps / Mbps (Hyperoptic need to be clearer in their marketing terms).

The data usage is unlimited subject to an Acceptable Use Policy: hyperoptic.com/leg…cy/

Not available for me yet.I will say though they are the same team behind Be* unlimited who I was with some years back. The support staff are based in Bulgaria and nothing is too much trouble for them. They go above and beyond any customer service team that I have used over the years. They will actually sort any problems and not refer you to another department like all the other broadband or fibre suppliers do . Wow that’s a blast from the past, I was with Be* Unlimited for some time, I’m actually now with Hyperoptic and cannot fault the service. I had a Vodafone broadband contract, 9 months until I could opt out. Hyperoptic gave me 1GB for free for 9 months, I now have 15 months left of my 24 month contract left.

I recently swapped to this deal (from BT) in June, unfortunately though on the 1 GB package I am getting only 400-500 mbps during daytime, around 2-3 AM it starts to speed up to 900 mbps. It's been 2 weeks back and forth emailing with Hyperoptic, they seem insanely slow with responding.

On a separate note, I also purchased a static IP, which was already banned by Akamai (so can not access a lot of UK websites without using a VPN), it's nearly 10 days now and they've ignored my support ticket :/

I don't know, but BT was much better when it come to support vs HyperOptic.

Still £6/month for fixed IP to avoid Hyperoptic's CGNAT online gaming hell?
    TheVoice's avatar
I'm on CGNAT and have had no issues with online gaming.

Thanks for this OP. Had just agreed a new contract for 150Mb at £32 per month so went back and forth with them a lot after seeing this and now they’ve finally agreed to give me 1Gb for £18 a month. Saved me a ton and got a big speed boost, thank you!(y)
    kyle.makwana's avatar
Yeah I did, so at first I just asked to move on to the new contract and they offered me an alternative which I said no and to go ahead with the cancellation, this happened twice more then they said they had a special discounted offer whilst I’m in the process of terminating which I again declined and said I felt like I was being punished for being a loyal customer then they finally came back to me and gave me the new customer prices

In almost all cases, the hold up in the local authority that manages the neighborhood. Companies like Hyperoptic would bang out with installations for anyone and everyone if they got the go ahead. Councils usually take a few years go through the process of accepting installations. After that, the initial installations of laying cable and wiring it up takes a matter of weeks. After which it's about 3 months to get customers from that particular installation.

Used Hyperoptic for the last 13 months. No Open Reach fibre broadband here in North Finchley and they installed in a large 70's block of flats. Great service. Can't recall one drop in connection. Highly reccomended.
    Sjsjzwzebxxbn_Uajqzszdbx's avatar
Yeahh exactly block of flats they don't care about anything else tbh very niche product
  7. MrVix's avatar
    This is a joke right?
    Jon_Red's avatar
I thought so too before realising it’s Mb and Gb meaning Mbps and Gbps as in speed, not data transfer usage in MB/s and GB/s.
  8. TheVoice's avatar
To allay some of the availability complaints, Hyperoptic tend to focus on flats/apartments and new builds. If that doesn't apply to you, you're better off looking into which altnet(s) are in your area.

I had booked in the 1 GB plan 2 months back. So far I have not got the line activated to make it worse they are not even able to even provide me an activation date. After calling them almost every few days all I get is we are trying to reach out to the area manager for an installation date. It's been 2 months and I am getting the same response few of their customer support folks mentioned if you want you can cancel and go with a different service provider if you are not ready to wait. I am like who says such things to a customer. (edited)
    Sahmuel_Cane's avatar
Snap! Got activated last week after an age of waiting but still no actual internet.

Signed up three months ago as my postcode was showing as available. Victorian terraced house in London. Multiple engineer visits, holes drilled in my wall and then they decide they can't install so cancelled the order.
  11. abar121's avatar
Call them up as a new customer and they will do all sorts of deals including the first year free and the second heavily discounted, which was cheaper than this deal, but locked for 24 months. It may or may not work for you. Just go for the 500Mb line if you are using Wifi, you won't see the benefit of 1Gb. Also be aware of the routers they offer depending on your choice and insist on the one that you want.
    ck12111's avatar
What was the deal you got in the end?
  12. DealHugger's avatar
I am willing to move house to qualify for this deal.

How to access this deal as an existing customer on contract? When does this one expire? My contract ends on 27th this month
    Deal_Er's avatar
You can contact the Hyperoptic customer service and mention them, they will help with it. I did the same last time.
Otherwise, you will still have 2 days to create a new account and avail this offer

I had just renewed my 1Gb contract for £36 at a different address in August for activation today.

Called today (day of activation) and they switched me to the £18 deal! result! and great timing

As an existing customer, how did you convince them to give you the deal?
  15. QueenBetty's avatar
They used to be very good. Now they are terrible. If you’re paying for higher speeds make sure you are getting what you’re paying for. I was getting 300mbps despite paying for 1gb. They are oversubscribed due to offers like these.
    Zygsonn's avatar
same here, recently moved to them from Vodafone however it's been 4 weeks now and my speed never reached even half of what it suppose. (checked daily through speed test via cable and WiFi)
  16. popolou's avatar
Cracking deal. You have to go a while back for the next best at £20 pcm for the Gb service. Long gone are the promo days when they did it for £10 pcm!
  17. womars's avatar
I was on the £20/month 1GB (no phone) 2 year deal previously. Email offered me £45 month for 1 year. Called in to cancellation number and said the offer sucked so wanted to cancel unless they could do better, they bounced me to someone else to talk pacakges.

First offer off the bat was upgrade to new router and booster, 1GB for 24 months at £35. Said I didn't need new routers etc so that dropped to £30. Mentioned the £18/month and they basically said made no difference. Asked to drop to 500GB and was told the price would go UP to £38! So I feel I got a weirdly decent deal straight up here and took the £30 24 month one.

Don't know what the trick was, maybe by calling cancellations and being xferred I get tagged as wanting to cancel, else can't see why the deals were better than most offered here...
    JohnHH's avatar
Same £20/month 1GB deal expiring next month with email offering £30 a month for 24 months. Called them and the first CS said nothing better. Called again on second CS and mention I want to cancel and got offered £26 a month for 24 months which is not bad at all however still went ahead to cancel and will just reapply with teh £18 a month one. Call me cheap lol.
  18. phozy's avatar
Oh they got back to you lucky for you ! they didnt contact me back or anything lol. ... and yes I went through topcashback too hahahaha

Although the terms does say if you use a code the cashback may not be valid, but sometimes it works so nothing to lose I guess. (edited)

This is only for new customer, is this same offer for existing customer to use?
    boostii's avatar
I tried to negotiate as hard as I could on a renewal, it was clear they were happy to let me leave rather than give me a similar deal to new customers. They were OK to price match the cheapest competitor offer at my postcode which is fair enough and it pretty much makes there no point in leaving, but still gut wrenching to know new customers are getting it half the price. (edited)

Great deal cant reccommend Hyperoptic enough. My 24month 1GB £20pm is just about to end. With them you get 1gb upload and download speeds. It may be worth pointing out that they use Carrier Grade Nat wont effect most people but worth knowing.

Would love to move away from companies like Virgin Media but companies like these just don't supply to where i live, frustratingly.
    Sjsjzwzebxxbn_Uajqzszdbx's avatar
No they don't unfortunately they only do big block of flats in or close to big cities tbh. They are not interested in detached housings.

Kudos OP! I am an existing customer so called up and asked for the deal. They said no so I terminated, then they came back with another offer which I also declined after which they gave me the same deal!

I may be wrong but I don't think that's the correct place to enter it as this deal has no activation fee. If you follow the link in the original post you won't need to enter any code

I have seen an engineer installing the service to nearby flats and I could also see the neighbour's hyperoptic wifi, so it must be in the same building. Yet I still can't get the offer
I have registered and checked every month for the past 6 months but still no avail. (edited)

I set up an account with them Friday, saw this and called them up and they honoured it! Just saved me £27 a month so thank you!

I can see the greenbox out my window. If you stood next to it, I could flick peas at you to annoy you. They won't connect us though. They literally dug up the road outside many months ago and updated everything at the box but still wont add our buildings. (edited)

"Not in your area" has been the result for years, except they are in my area - they simply supply local businesses and don't appear to be keen to expand to residential.

Could you cancel your current hyperoptic account (not under contract anymore) and make a new one to get this deal?
    Prawnie's avatar
If you contact them they definetly will. They let me change mid contract to a better one way back! Customer service was great! I did it via twitter.
