AI : Your Inteligent Assistant

To provide the best performance for our clientele, GIGABYTE and Microsoft collaborated and introduced the world's first and only laptop AI. It can learn the energy consumption details of every software and adjust the wattage consumption of the CPU and GPU accordingly, allowing the user to effortlessly enjoy the top performance. The best part is that with the accumulated learning data, AERO 16 will configure CPU/GPU for each software with more precision, saving up more time for you at multimedia processing and manual setting.

Assurred Dedication Every Second

GIGABYTE's unique cooling technology includes two 59-blade fans, 5 heat pipes, and multi-face heat dissipation fins. This allows the laptop to operate with a total thermal design power (TDP) up to 125 watts (45 watts for the processor and 80 watts for the graphics card) under “Performance Mode” as this thermal solution can quickly dissipate heat, ensuring a calm and stable throttle-free performance under heavy loads when gaming or multimedia processing.

Check the IO meets your needs, you need to plug in the included usb hub to have an hdmi output (4k@60Hz, not 2.1)
    YourSongIsEnding's avatar
Yeah apparently also doesn’t have USB A ports..

My current gaming laptop is 120hz from 2019 huh. (Cost 899)
    The.Fat.Cat's avatar
But is it a 4K AMOLED display with a 3070 Ti? (edited)
  3. BigDom's avatar
Started drooling until is saw it had Max-Q.
    plewis00's avatar
It's not Max-Q, they stopped calling them that with the 3000-series, it's a 105W card, so about middle, you can get higher TDP GPUs, but nothing wrong with this, it'll still perform great.
  4. Karlos457's avatar
If only it had a 120hz display

    Bargain in my opinion

The screen is so massive it's like a drive in cinema! Do you want me to come and park my car in front of it?
  7. metronome's avatar
No HDMI out, no frame generation, if you are going to plug it into another display to use instead then getting the 4K OLED is pointless because you aren't using it...
    adam.mt's avatar
With that argument, any screen is pointless - buy a NUC, combo kb/touchpad, and powerbank instead

Time Spy score with 130W VBIOS:

    50960618-R3HoU.jpg
Stock (105W VBIOS) graphics score was 9436. Just downloaded a free GPU upgrade

BTW, the screen is amazing. (edited)

    Ah nice!!!
  9. plewis00's avatar
A lot of laptop for the money, the calibrated display in particular looks amazing, but this machine could easily suit almost every user with the inclusion of a good laptop GPU too, large SSD, fast CPU and all-metal body. I don't think these will last long.
  10. goneracing's avatar
    This or the Geo 110?
    plewis00's avatar
Geo 110 has 11.6" screen and Intel-powered means it's perfect for airports and train stations. Why would anyone buy this Gigabyte with it's 16" OLED display that is too big and heavy, you will break the screen!!!
  11. sergiup's avatar
Oh thank God it sold out, I was so tempted
  12. abberr's avatar
    That looks really good

    Excellent price
  14. plewis00's avatar
Had a look elsewhere and Laptops Direct are listing it at £1597.97 and Selling Fast - not sure how much I believe the last part but that still seems like a good price and if you add the £602 back, that gives it an RRP of £2199.97 which seems believable for what's on offer.

    50941963-Hq1se.jpg
Ok - I'm clearly going to end up doing something reckless and buy this, anyone else having trouble adding to cart? did you try? (edited)

    How does this compare to
    dell.com/en-…a01

I upgraded the ram to 32gb and 1tb hard drive for £1100 after discounts.

I've bought this last week but the delivery date has been pushed back to 25th this month because of component shortages..
    plewis00's avatar
Are you more of a gamer or do you want the OLED display is probably the real question - the Alienware has a larger display and will probably perform better in games, this Gigabyte is much more well-rounded and less gaming focussed but happens to have hardware that is very capable, in a quality chassis with what sounds like one of the best (non gaming) displays on any laptop.
  16. YourSongIsEnding's avatar
I don’t think this is the deal for me. Really struggling to decide on whether to replace my laptop or not.

     That's a good find...ordered...heat was added!

  18. GOODSTUFF's avatar
anyone know if upgradin RAM voids warranty?
    plewis00's avatar
I doubt it, manufacturer says it'll take up to 64GB, they can hardly moan at you if that's all you do to it.
  19. mrpipster's avatar
    4K AMOLED, 60hz?
    bfhf's avatar
    4K AMOLED, 100% P3, 16 inch.. £999. I dont care 60 or 120Hz (edited)
  20. designer_friend's avatar
I've just watched some reviews. Looks like a solid machine. 60hz and poor battery life are the only downsides.
    plewis00's avatar
It's probably because it's a 4K OLED, I think 120Hz or faster 4K OLEDs in laptops are extremely rare and/or expensive.
  21. YourSongIsEnding's avatar
It uses a 105w version of the 3070 TI, so performance doesn’t stack up as well to other laptops with same GPU. (This is different to the 40 series which doesn’t go over a certain wattage etc)
    plewis00's avatar
3070 Ti usually comes in 80-125W variants with some boosting higher (up to 150W) - this is fairly middle of the road but I doubt anyone would be disappointed with it. You get diminishing returns at the top end.
  22. YourSongIsEnding's avatar
Apparently you can’t stream HDCP content on the main screen, not sure if that’s an issue. Someone said in relation to the obviously impressive screen…
    XiaofengXiaofeng_Xiaofeng's avatar
    Where did you read this?
  23. GOODSTUFF's avatar
Ok so, the bottom of the laptop has many screws, but the 2 center screws have a black sticker which if tampered with voids warranty.

I wish it had 32gb ram. This would be great for productivity/graphic designing (edited)
    plewis00's avatar
They can try but legally can't void warranty like that. Also Costco probably won't care, they are really good for customer service. If I had an issue I would take it to my local.
  24. Vegeta's avatar
    Review:

BTW, the 105W 3070 Ti is about as fast as the 140W RTX 3060. (edited)
    plewis00's avatar
That's not what Reddit seems to think though, most feel a 105W 3070 (Ti) is better than a 130-140W 3060, especially with the extra VRAM - I guess maybe you won't miss the performance.
  25. Josu's avatar
Not a gaming laptop, 60 Hz puts me down
What a massive sales going on pc side this time
    Joe90_guy's avatar
Agreed. I thought at first glance I'd found my next gaming laptop but this machine is way too compromised. The Tom's Hardware review (below) is enough to put anyone off. Shame really. The thought of a 4K OLED screen for less than £1k is appealing but if you only want it primarily for gaming (as opposed to content creation), this thing doesn't cut the mustard...

For those new to gaming laptops - Mobile 3070 Ti is about 30% lower performance than it's desktop counterpart.

Just one thing to note when looking at spec requirements for games.
