This has 5 year warranty on eBay it's only two years

Great deal, great budget AVR. Just be careful it had plenty of space around it as these run hot and don’t have fans in them

Weirdly enough, some of the higher models in this lineup do have active cooling for when the amp kicks in to high power mode (vol > 50) but the x1700h doesn’t.

Anyone have an av receiver which splits the output and would recommend a 4k splitter?
Have one linked to the TV but also looking to put in a projector and would like to use the same system on both

Can anyone give there input, I currently have a Yamaha RXV4A , would this be a upgrade? I have a 5.1 setup, Was looking for a upgrade for Dolby Atmos but apparently you have to have ceiling speakers? The wife wont allow this
     Any input appreciated

also noted i have a Samsung QE75QN95BA TV , Currently PS5 connected to the TV and audio on EARC (edited)

There are two ways of getting ATMOS. Either by using ceiling speakers or by using up-firing speakers. Upfiring speakers are speakers that are placed on top of or near your existing front and/or rear speakers. They fire sound upward at an angle, bouncing it off the ceiling and down to your ears.

I have a Denon AVR-X2100W - however after buying a Samsung 65" QN95A, I have had to route everything to the TV and then have a ARC to the AV receiver, as it does not deal with 4k>60hz, 4K HDCP, VRR, ALLM.

However as can be seen here avforums.com/thr…-66 I have been experiencing the sound/video drop out - mainly on TV apps like Disney+ (wish I had known about these problems when buying)., but everything does it eventually and is ruining what is other a great TV. As per the forum Samsung seem to be denying the problem, but it seems to only be effecting some people, which makes me think it may be conflict between older tech (lower speed HDMI Ports) and newer tech.

I have changed HDMI leads to 2.1 certified ones, but still getting it - however if I turn off HDMI CEC/Anynet+ it does seem to go away, however for control issues that is not any good (I think it stops the ARC from memory so AV receiver not doing the sound).

Anyone else had any experience of this and upgraded to a newer AV model like this - hoping it might fix the problem?

Afraid I can't help with a solution but I have an old Denon AV amp and Disney+ on that is a mare. Can only get it to work via a firestick, via Chromecast it's only ever stereo. I wondered if it's an HDMI port but can't be bothered swapping everything around. I'm sure it's the app as it did work then suddenly it didn't, same results on android and iPhone. Firestick app being updated less often seems more stable.

I used to love my old AV Receiver & speakers, however they are a total nightmare to sell on the secondhand market even when you try and offload them for stupidly cheap (Especially with the size and weight). Id imagine its probably because Joe Public (in their eyes) think a set of cheap speakers are the same as high end ones. (edited)

The problem is that there's a constant churn of new standards to support, particularly with hdmi - loads of superb amps out there now going for pennies because they don't support 4k/HDR, pretty soon it'll be the same with 4k 60hz amps because everyone will want 4k 120hz/8k.

Fortunately the end is in sight as with eArc it doesn't matter if you can't do the latest video formats...

That’s a cracking deal, I have one and recommend.

Never had a problem with a Denon AVR. Bought an X2500H four years ago. It's been used every day since then. Very reliable.

A couple of weeks ago my mini amp for my PC speakers went bang after seven years use. So now my Denon is being used to power my PC speakers until I decide what to do with my PC audio. Total overkill !

Fabulous brand and customer after sales technical support service. Much of their features are future proof, fab for music and films, adaptable and arc tends to work without any major issues (aside from possible initial teething issues which you work out over tied) providing main hdmi ports go on right eg some ports better signal than others - read manual - good remote, power and menu options; love Audyssey speaker set up which works a treat and regular firm-wear fixes. Electrical products can be luck of the draw now days as I’ve found with major reliable brands consumer, household and cars. Main point is Denon amps are generally reliable and robust, known for great music and film sound and functions are brill. (edited)

They'll be getting rid of these now ready for the X1800H. I think the new model is basically the same tho but has the more modern setup GUI that the X2800H has. (edited)

Can recommend, moved over from a pioneer vsx934 and have been very pleased. Use it for gaming and my series s and PS5 both get Atmos/7.1 with HDR and up to 120hz.

Ordered, hoping to be an upgrade from the sony 790 that i currently have. The "problem" with my sony receiver is that i am not happy with the DV passthrough. I have a feeling it modifies the image as DV from netflix on the TV has "real black" while from the firecube+receiver black becomes foggish grey . Also sony doesn't seem to support hdr10+ passthrough while this Devon does.
Lets see, will do some testing on sunday and see if it was the sonys fault. (edited)

I've always had denon been good. I have a x2300w so I don't see a need to upgrade yet but it's a good deal

I'm the other way, my Denon had a failed HDMI board just outside of warranty and my replacement Marantz (same company as Denon) completely blew a power board a couple of months in. The Marantz was fixed under warranty, but having had a Yamaha for 12+ years without issue, I'll not be buying Denon Marantz again.

    When a 9.2 atmos is around £500 I'll bite
    flimflamf's avatar
That’s optimistic lol. Bear in mind this will do 5.1.2 which works quite well for Atmos content.

I have an older one of these and quite happily use eARC from my Samsung TV for 5.1 on everything, all the TV apps and xbox and so on.

One day I'll get a new one and part of me thinks the xbox etc should be plugged into the amp and pass through to the TV, but I like the way the TV has control over the inputs with the Samsung interface, is it clever enough to do this through the amp too and change the source? (edited)
    scoutfinch47's avatar
Yes I use arc and everything inc Xbox goes through the amp with no problems and access to Xbox Atmos if you buy the app or use via streaming service platforms
