Note that these are cheap because of the CL18 part. This represents RAM timings, and is the slowest commonly sold. If you're on a Ryzen system, RAM timings are somewhat important for speed, and to get the best out of your system, you should aim for CL16 at least, ideally CL14.

It will still work with CL18, you just may as well have got a slightly worse system because you're not going to get the most out of it. It's a bit like putting 4 space-saver tyres on a lamborghini.

You won’t find many models of 2x16gb at CL14. Even a few CL16.

I'm waiting on some 3200 CL16 RGB just because there isn't really any performance boost going any higher than 3200 because the Cas then creeps up and you're no better off

I think £60 should be achievable now too

Even with higher cas it’s better to have 3600 on AMD because of the infinity cache scaling

Can anybody persuade me why this is not worthwhile as I will be upgrading to 32GB with a new mboard and not sure if the jump to DDR5 is worth or if these particular DDR4 sticks are sub-par for DDR4.

what do you have now? these are great, but I'd get the klevv ones if you want RGB (they were 59.99)

They also have the Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO SL 32GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4 3600MHz C18 version for £76.98

Only major differences are lighting and lower height of 44mm. Might need them if like me your CPU air cooler is close to memory slots as these are 44mm high whereas the non SL ones are 51mm

Does anyone know if RAM has to be 100% on your motherboard’s compatibility list to work, or will most major brands work anyway?

I’ve got quite an old motherboard (X370) and their list of tested modules hasn’t been updated in 2 years by the looks of it.

    Most work fine

Would jumping from 16gb 3600MHz to 32gb make much of a noticable diffrence in just surfing the net and playing games like GTA5?

Not on am4, but am5 apparently yes. However prices so good I'd go for it if planning on staying on am4 for a while.
