For half the price I got a Mac Mini M2 Pro with a 32" LG UHD monitor.

That’s a really portable computer setup you have there. Totally relevant to a discussion about a laptop…

You did not just say similar specs.

They really are fantastic laptops and I'd even say they'd be worth the price if they could be upgraded.... But they cannot. However you know if Apple allowed for that, then all of a sudden the 38 core model would only come fully spec'd out, so you'd have to pay up front for the higher end model anyways.

The main issue I have and I've experienced this myself, so now I do not buy them. It's how you cannot order parts for them, you cannot get parts anywhere and mine had image retention issues, which I've never seen on an LCD display ever apart from with Apple lol. I couldn't get a replacement screen anywhere and Apple wanted more than what the laptop was worth a few years down the line to replace..... So I was screwed. I just had to sell it for £900, accept a big loss and I then just made my own desktop PC instead. Which I'd recommend to stay away from AMD as they have so many driver issues I thought my PC was faulty.

Says it's a fantastic laptop then goes onto say after a couple of years once the warranty has ran out it's essentially landfill material. Yeah great laptops indeed.

Also I've got an AMD CPU and never had any driver issues fyi.

You may need to update your bios.

Also a desktop isn't exactly a like for like replacement for this. Why would you buy a laptop if you could get away with a desktop as they are usually twice as powerful for half the money.

Anyway apple should be boycotted for their right to repair policies

Don't worry, it's a magic 1TB drive better than a 4TB on a "Windoze" machine according to evangelists.

Better be, as it is soldered!

Decent price for the 32GB version. Paid similar for the 16gb!

Just my view but I would avoid the Max chip in the 14 inch model. I think M2 Pro chip in the 14 inch and M2 Max chip in the 16 inch is the way to go. It was the same with the M1 Pro/Max. I was going to order a full spec 14 inch Max but waited for the reviews on thermals.

A lot of people go for the max due to the extra external monitor support.

You should wait if you're looking for a new Mac. They M3 will be out in a few months and it looks like a quite a big bump in performance.
