    A salutary lesson - I hadn't spotted the "empty" bit until reading the comments. Shame it didn't hold more cable - I reckon that the sellers are on to something. I've got a 50m 13A reel - that all 4 sockets failed on, one by one. So now it just has a single rubber socket on the end of the cable. Yes, it's my lawn mower extension - it's got too expensive in petrol to run the petrol mower, so I'm using a little electric one.

    I might be the target market for this with a similar style extension lead but where only one of the sockets will take a plug. The cable is still good.

    Yet if I do spend the time to take it apart to get the old cable off, I may find out how to fix the old one.

    For not much more, I'd look out for a decent brand already with cable and not have to spend the time wiring it. (edited)
