The Doubletree by Hilton Times Square West in Manhattan sits within easy reach of NYCs iconic landmarks and boasts striking skyline views from its stylish rooftop lounge (open Thursday to Saturday). Youll receive the hotels signature warm chocolate chip cookies when you check in at the attractive lobby. Centrally located in Midtown Manhattan, the hotel benefits from good transport links nearby, including the adjacent Port Authority Bus Terminal and 42nd street subway. Here, the E subway line connects with the AirTrain at Jamaica Station or Howard Beach, which connects with John F. Kennedy International Airport. The contemporary guest rooms feature one king bed or two double beds and come equipped with a TV and a desk.

We stayed at this hotel in July and it was honestly the worst. There wasn't even an lift and the area felt super dodgy

The area where tourists are constantly?

Just come back from New York, 4 nights as well. $172 tax for the stay. Prices have gone up and the exchange rate down so it is a lot more expensive than before. Food wise, we used Tripadvisor and the ‘£’ sign to go to keep costs down which helped, but still ended up spending £30 ion 2 footlong subways and a drink to share. Shopping wise, there’s not many deals to be had. Still tho, fabulous trip, lots to see and do. Also, for transfers, use the $8.25 Airtrain from JFK to Jamaica and then the Subway which was $35 for 7 days of unlimited use, takes about 45 mins but far cheaper.

Do you know if you have to pay for children?

You’re not in your hotel all day or night…
Stayed here and was perfectly fine for a base

I did this exact holiday (with BA, same flights and hotel) this July after booking last year. 7 nights for 2 of us for about £1,600. The location was decent, being just a few blocks from Time Sq, Broadway, etc. Good central location to see lots. The hotel was... meh... took forever to get an elevator. Lots of ppl waiting in the lobby for one for most of the day. We ended up just walking down the stairs rather than waiting 10 minutes for one. Quite a few druggies on the street, so didn't really love walking down it. But I guess it gave a real sense of NY tbf we probably wouldn't go back there, but it wasn't terrible and it's a decent price.

How do people enjoy NY or America longer? 5 nights is too much for NY but due to the long flight you need more time out there!

I’d say 5 nights is perfect for New York. It’s a 6/7 hour flight on a good day and with them being 5 hours behind you land close to your takeoff time. Jet lag isn’t a problem going East to West. I’ve been to NY 15+ times since 2013 and always go for 5 nights, it’s the perfect length for a trip.

Stayed here last year - perfectly adequate hotel in a great location. Yes NYC is dodgy but I walk everywhere & never had any problems - I get the train from JFK & 10 min walk from Penn station. Going again next week & staying here again as for the price it is fine as a base & a place to sleep.

I’ve stayed in this hotel and it’s absolutely fine. Room was clean etc. Walking distance to Central Park which was perfect for us.

We did this exact deal this year. The aircraft was very dated for BA. The hotel itself was ok, apart from the wait for the lifts and lack of coeliac options. Also the hotel is on a back street which was fairly dodgy with druggies hanging around the hotel all the time. For the price it’s worth but we wouldn’t stay here for a special occasion.

Times square for me is the worst part of manhatten, I understand why first time visiters go( it feels like the beating heart of NYC), but in truth, its just a sqaure of neon lights on buildings, with some undesirable people, scam artist, pick pockets and at night it is decidely dodgy. There is always a heavy police presence (for good reason) Meat packing district, Chelsea, greenwich village and East village much better for an original NYC expereince IMHO

Yeah we went to Times Square once for the 'experience', and then avoided it for the rest of our stay. It's so busy that it's annoying.

I've stayed in 100s of Hilton properties in my 20+ years as an Honors member.

Stayed in this one last year for a night in March when Hilton hotel hopping in New York and Chicago.

This is like a backpackers Doubletree. Loads of school groups staying here. No real benefits for Diamond level members staying here.
    michaelgell's avatar
Terrible benefits anywhere in the USA for diamond members as they literally give it away when you take out a credit card there. Much better in middle east and Asia

Price wise this seems a good deal if it includes direct flights and baggage. NYC is and will always be a great place to go to. The city has gone downhill since the pandemic, I go a lot and have since 2000 and have noticed that. That said, it is not downright unsafe in the places tourists would generally go to.
I don't know much about this hotel, but it always seems to come up when there is an NYC offer on, so it makes me think it isn't that great. Unfortunately however, accommodation in midtown Manhattan is never going to be cheap so there aren't many options.

Hotel prices in ny are just mind boggling, years ago I stayed in the Millennium Hotel Broadway Times Square,, nice hotel but nothing special - its now circa £400 a night
    JordanBeresford's avatar
I stayed there in 2015 and it cost £1100 for 7 nights now it’s well over £2k

Just got back from 4 nights at Crown Plaza Times Square, the 35 degree heat last week was disgusting and made the place absolutely stink! Overall great trip but the food and drink prices are astronomical now, helps the hotel was free though from IHG points... we had the New York Pass for attractions and booked 2 a day but it made it all feel rushed for 4 nights with little time to relax fully and take in the shops etc, 5 nights would have definitely been better!

(original post removed) do you how much would it would have been if you hadn't had the points? (edited)

I’ve stayed at this Hotel it is a super dodgy area the room was tiny and very dusty and money was stolen from our room. I seriously would look for somewhere less intimidating to stay bargain or not
  17. makkurokurosuke's avatar
Isn’t it cheaper to arrange everything yourself so book flights and hotels separately?
    hobbsie65's avatar
Not really - hotels are so expensive in NYC now. I am going again next week (this hotel) & paid £750 for 3 nights including flights but the hotel is more than this on its own. I went last year as well & same senirio.

    Anything similar from Heathrow?

Would you trust BA not to cancel flights?
Also so many homeless druggies in NYC, not how it used to be.
