Yes, they are primarily intended for gripping pipes and tubes - but we all use them for other things. (They are excellent when it comes to crab and lobster claws and Christmas walnuts and Brazils).

What differentiates tools like this from Bahco and 1.99 ones from the cheap tools aisles, is the steel that they are made from. Particularly the steel that the teeth in the jaws is made from. If they have fine-edge points of contact, they act as a huge force multiplier and stop a tube/pipe from rotating without bursting blood vessels trying. The cheap ones soon have incisors that have become molars - rounded over from (mis-)use on other tasks. Particularly when used with moly/chrome or high carbon sockets (when you should be using a ring spanner, or a deep socket). Anything made from steel where the teeth are just going to skid over the surface.

So, for a very utilitarian "come in handy" tool - I'd vote this one hot. It's not the precision tools normally associated with Bahco, but it is Bahco material's quality.

Yes, look pretty poor by Bahco standards. And not showing as available for me.
But the 2971G250 model looks better and is only £10.95
