People love to hate Tesla for some reason- partly because they compare it with normal fuel cars which have been around years and partly coz of Musk.
Whatever be your opinion Tesla Model 3 & Y are hands down the leaders in EV car market. Nothing comes close at all. I own an Audi Etron and have tested various EVs - KIA EV6, Hyundai ionic 5&6.. and what you get in Tesla Model 3/y is a better package overall even if it has some shortcomings which are also in other makes

Anyone know how long the batteries last and how much it is to replace them?
    kvn618's avatar
Battery should last 6,000 cycles atleast and warranty is for 8 years. After 6,000 cycles you should still have at least 80% capacity. 6,000 cycles assuming 250 miles range should give you 1,500,000 of trouble free motoring

Our Hyundai Tucson PHEV was stolen 2 days ago (using keyless hack), now thinking of going full EV, and I hadn't even thought of a Tesla. Anybody on here have one? What do you think? we do about 30 miles a week, so only plan to charge via a 3-pin plug (10 Amp) charger that we used on the Tucson - does that work on Teslas?

Yeah that works fine. This would be compatible with Intelligent Octopus so whenever the car is smart charging even via the 3 pin cable, both house and car would be getting electricity cheap at 7.5p per kWh.

Scotty literally knows nothing about evs and tesla. I often watch them and correct every single point he makes in the comments.

Amazing. Almost semi sensible comments in this thread.

Apart from the polestar2 owner (an inefficient ev) stating that the model 3 only does 100miles to a charge. At that rate the efficiency would be 1.6mi/kwh. Considering I have a Model 3 and I can get 5mi/kwh around town and 4.2mi/kwh on a run I'm calling nonsense.

Even in the depths of winter at -5c on the motorway I'll still see 3.6mi/kwh (albeit the earlier models didn't have a heatpump). So the lowest range in a standard range model would be around 220 miles. So still over double the claimed 100 miles.

Also another big myth is charging costs. Just because it costs up to £1 per kwh to charge your Polestar or e-tron it doesn't mean its that to charge a Tesla. Tesla superchargers are around 34p per kwh to charge....going up to 40p peak between 4pm and 8pm.

There are also plenty of cars with a centre binnacle for speedo etc. Mini, Nissan x-trail, Toyota yaris, etc. It takes all of 30 seconds to get used to, much like regen braking and plugging the car in when you get home. Speed is in top right hand corner right in your peripheral.

If you've not been an test drove one I'd recommend it because you can read all the nonsense reviews you like online but until you drive a quiet, well built made in China model then you can't really judge it. (edited)

Terrible build quality, put your money towards something better in its class.

Tesla’s claimed range is also the worst out of all the EV’s. (edited)

Tell us you don’t own a Tesla without telling us you don’t own a Tesla

If you have the finance then buying a second hand Long Range model that was made in China is a great option. Price have dropped in the second hand market although now stabilising. Hopefully you’ll find one with parking sensors!

If you are planning to buy a new model then hold off until the facelift model arrives early next year.

The new model has indicator buttons on the steering wheel instead of an indicator stalk. That will be a deal-buster for some people, me included.

Pre-face lift , pre-configured Tesla....not good. You canrmt change things which could make car more appealing. The gen 1 tesla is noisy and has average suspension. I enquired about part exchanging my bmw 3 series , 69 plate and they priced me £3.5k below market rate and were suprised that I declined their offer and went for audi a4.....seriously. everyone at Tesla must have Musk's mentality.

You also dont have cockpit in usual place.....cockpits in the middle of the car should be banned. (edited)
