Massively cheaper than new price of £120 ish. This is a very stylish metal kettle.

These kettles are fully cleaned, descaled and tested before dispatch.

This Smeg kettle has been dented/scratched but it is in otherwise good cosmetic condition and it is fully functional. It has been used and returned by a previous customer. It will not come with the original Smeg packaging or warranty. The images on this listing are examples only, they are not the actual item that you would receive.

We bought one last time these were on offer at a similar price & to be honest, it’s possibly the worst kettle we’ve ever had. The lid is really slow to open, takes ages to boil & it feels lower quality than some cheaper brands we’ve had in the past (edited)

Why what was wrong with it

In my experience these boil quieter and if you fill from the spout it has a proper stainless steel filter.

Why would you ever fill from the spout? Anything picked up by the filter is then on the outside

Got one last time same people can’t fault it

Sorry, but I'd not want to be drinking from something that has been used by another person and you don't know how.

That's why you eat at the restaurant and drink / eat and in all dishes already used many times

I could never buy something called SMEG...

I have one of these kettles already and in my experience was only minor cosmetically marked. You have 30 days to return should you not be satisfied.
The only reason for me buying a another one from them is I dropped it and the top doesn't always shut every time.
Absolute bargain for this luxury kettle. They go for £75 ish used on ebay normally.

Genuine question. What is luxurious about it. I thought this brand was all about a particular look, but it's marked.
  8. garga12's avatar
Absolutely. It's crazy, though, what people are capable of in order to get their hands (= have) on a 'luxury' item. (edited)

I was thinking it would keep the element lime free.
    KTy's avatar
Get the logic, suppose the only way around that is pre filter your water before it goes in but that's a lot of hassle! I've just come to accept limescale as part of my diet

Someone trying to flog their own eBay stock here?

    Dented scratched returned and used?

Doesn't sound a great deal, better off with a brand new kettle that someone hasn't washed their pants in

Boil wash after a night out.

Normally its only one minor blemish like my last one from them.

Plus I feel a lot better paying £30 instead of £120 for one of these. (edited)

I personally having owned one from these people like the look and feel of them. they are also quieter in operation than other 3000w kettles Ive had. they also benefit from a soft open lid which I fill from a brita water filter jug which keeps the metal element cleaner.

Why RRP on these is £189?

    Jeez....2nd hand kettles
    Neostar's avatar
Not all second hand are second hand some might be new and just have a defect like scratches due to bad handling in the factory or something

What are the benefits of a £30 second-hand kettle with SMEG emlazened across it, over other kettles costing a fraction of this?
    ms01ma's avatar
Nothing unless you happen to like the look of it

dented/scratched but it is in otherwise good cosmetic condition

I gave heat because, hey, it looks nice but... apparently poorly designed, gets only 4.1 out of 5 stars on John Lewis customer reviews, when surely a kettle should be pretty close to 5 out of 5, no? Especially at the original retail price. For instance, JL have quite a nice Kenwood that's more or less 5 out of 5 for £39. SMEG is a posh brand, though. That said, do people compare kettles like they compare cars and phones?

"Cool, you've got a Smeg!" - doesn't sound that like something you'd want to be overheard saying at a party, does it?! Sudden silence. Probably sounds way cooler in Italian, hmm.

Pouring over a lot of reviews, my impression is that it's a great kettle, as long as you don't put water in it.
