Description
The GEL-SONOMA 6 G-TX running shoe is designed for the great outdoors. Taking inspiration from the ASICS trail running family, this shoe is a versatile offering that's functional for trail runs, light hiking, and other outdoor adventures. We also used fewer resources to color the sockliner for a more sustainable design approach. This updated version of our trail shoe is complemented with a GORE-TEX upper to help keep feet dry in wet conditions.
The focus this season was to improve the fit of the upper, so we implemented a new last design that provides a more secure midfoot and heel fit, while the wider toe box allows the toes to spread out. The synthetic stitching on the overlays is designed to improve durability while also helping feet stay secure and reduce slipping.
Underfoot comfort stems from a full-length AMPLIFOAM midsole and GEL technology cushioning unit that's placed where runners need the most impact absorption. To increase the softness with every step, we've included an ORTHOLITE sockliner for excellent comfort. Additionally, the multi-directional grip outsole improves traction on a variety of surfaces.
All of these comfort components are complemented by durable properties, such as the solid rubber outsole—making this shoe a versatile choice for the trails.

sorted byI wear them when it rains and I use them for fast treks in All Terrain over hill ranges in Scotland throughout this year.
I've not had any issues with waterproofing. 9hrs in the Ochil hills and towards the end they got soaked as I went knee deep into a swamp. However I took them off at a peak and they dried off quick enough to carry on. They'll be my 'daily's' for casual/everyday use over wet autumn/winter when I don't want to wear boots. So waterproof is ok in my experience as long as they're not submerged.
They're comfortable and I find 'true to size'. I'm a 9.5 in Nike. A 10 in Adidas.
I got these in a 9.5 (28.25cm) and they fit perfect.
£38.88 is a steal for these in my opinion.
I feel 'seen off' paying £43 now lol (edited)
Not impressed with the quality of this shoe, hope the version 6 is more robust.
It's a very comfortable shoe but it doesn't last long.
The Sonoma GTX fell apart across the toe crease after 6 months. The RidgeRider still looks like new but leaves my feet soaking if walking in wet grass, and this started after about 3 months.
I am still tempted with the Sonoma as they were lighter and not so hot.
Ideally I would try a different brand but I don't wish to spend £100 for the same problem. To be fair, Asics refunded my Sonoma money
In fact for that price I have bought some more for when these need replacing.
Very comfortable tho
Cheers OP
I am the same size with Asics as I am with Adidas.
Done me 3 months so hard to judge how long they would last someone just using them on occasion for running.
I bought a few others to try on (adidas, merrell, soloman etc) but they were all hard and uncomfortable.
Has anyone else managed to find an OK pair of wide trail shoes? They also all appear to be Neutral when I need Support 😫.
Not looking to spend alot as its going to be more of a dabble through winter.
Many thanks! (edited)
