Good deal.for this, I was looking at these last week and the cheapest I saw was £42, so £29.99 is pretty good.
Had one before that lasted me for 5 years but the battery has gone now, but a huge saving on barber bills over the years, ideal if you just want a buzz cut.

The placement of the button seems terrible, but seems decent for the price.

Having used these clippers for a number of years, I have never accidently pressed the button in use. It's not the kind of button you can accidently press as it has a very discernable press/click in and out.

Who has successfully cut their own hair?

I'd expect uneven levels of hair everywhere.

These are for buzz cuts or shaved to the bone....if you are thorough you can easily achieve an even shaved look all over, although this specific one rather than traditional clippers is a little awkward to hold and you end up accidentally turning it off while operating it.

I have Wahl Balding clippers but cannot do my own hair evenly at the back so it meant relying on my wife to do it, I bought these back in July and every cut is even all over, not quite as tight a cut as the Wahl so I just run them over my head every two days, it takes two minutes if you keep on top of it.

Agree with most here, had tried many different hair cutting/shaving implements and this is by far the best and easiest to use. Had mine about 5 years now and tend to cut down to G2 all over (head that is!)

I've had these clippers for ages, at least 8 years maybe more. I use them to buzz my hair and trim my beard. Excellent clippers that still cut very well without catching hair or skin ever. Only issue is the battery doesn't hold charge for very long anymore so I tend to use them plugged in.

I had same. Do you run water through the holes on the top to clear out the hairs. It goes through the openings above the blades, there is a blue water symbol there. Also occasionally remove the cutting blades to clean that area. Very easy to do, turn upside down and push the blades release button down and out with your thumb. Clean up and then click blades back in. Finally add a couple of drops of oil. This is shown in the pictures attached to this post (edited)

This is a really excellent piece of kit for anyone doing an all over same length cut. I use it once a week minus a guard to cut down to the floorboards without any issues, nicks, cuts or otherwise.

Does it cut as close as the Remington MX5? Had that for nearly 3 years now and it’s been brilliant. Only downside is the battery is starting to really go now, so I have to charge it after each use.
    LiquidL's avatar
The MX5 gets way closer - I have both of these and I use the clippers first and then the MX5 second to finish. If I shaved more regularly I'd probably just use the MX5. I love the way both of them feel in the hand, particularly the MX5 as you can just lazily go round the skull with it.

If I want to get even closer I then go over the scalp again with my old Braun Series 7 which you can hear picking up even more stubble. That thing is the closest electric I've used but it just costs too much in consumables to use from the get-go.

I do my own Hair regularly with these.

Easy to use, they give a really nice close consistent cut.

First set i bought the battery didn't last very long.

    I found out why.

You should remove the power charging Cable from the Clipper when it is fully charged. I had a bad habit of just leaving the charger in. With the belief a drip charge was better for the Battery long term ,far from it.. The battery ages prematurely permanently connected to the Mains..

Cut your Hair place on Charge, the Blue LED will flash Blue.

When the Blue LED stops flashing and remains permanently lit

Unplug, the Clippers from the Mains. life Span of the Hair Clipper will be greatly extended.

    You are welcome.

I had mine of these for 6 years with monthly use before the battery died on them, they're good clippers for a buzz cut all over, would definitely recommend for this price.
  10. hukdjps's avatar
I purchased one of these 3 years ago and they have worked flawlessly giving me a 3mm buzz cut in about 5-10 mins.
When the battery eventually gives up there is plenty of videos on YouTube on how to replace it.
    Hot from me (edited)

Great find, had mine 6 years and still going. Being follicly challenged it is a great solution and easy to use and maintain.
I have recently bought the Rx5 but I'm not yet comfortable with the very short cut - yet. In 2017 I paid 24.99, so not a huge cost increase but the saving on barbers has been immense.
Fortunately I won a £10 gift card in the Omaze house draw (imagine that email coming through - You've won, I'd packed half the house before I realised....) so it's cost me less than £20, 2.5 haircuts.

Thanks for posting! Mine are coming to end of life after years and I had them in my basket watching but cheeky Amazon didn't update the basket price so I never noticed.

Get it - it is all worth it

Purchase mine back in 2019 still working great, paid £21.90

Snap lol still going strong. Recommend. Went on Amazon to check. I thought I'd only owned it for a couple of years. Time flys

Purchased during Covid. Still going strong. Cuts evenly on curly Afro hair. Use on my beard also with an Andis detailer. The barber will never see my money again.

Been using these and found them a lot better to use, paid 35.09 for them in August

I have these. Battery no longer holds charge but they do an excellent job whilst plugged in.

I have these and think they’re excellent. The only real problem I had was that the teeth on the 2mm comb broke and it’s impossible to buy a replacement separately in the UK. (edited)
    Scouse_Smurf's avatar
I've got exactly the same problem with mine. Got it on eBay during lockdown and the teeth on the 2mm were broken. Thankfully I can get away with using the 2.5mm regularly and the 1.5mm before going on holiday
  21. ong.junyi's avatar
I've had these for 3-4 years now. Best buy I've ever made - use these for a fade every couple of weeks or so, not perfect, but I've been getting better at it so it looks alright. Even if I had went for a haircut once every 2 months, this would have paid for itself within the year.
  22. jameshothothot's avatar
I got this during lockdown. Not been to barbers since for my son and I. Great value
  23. joestevens67's avatar
Like most people on here, had them for a few years and my wife cuts both me and my son’s hair monthly. Excellent product at an amazing price ( tempted to buy as a backup) ……heat

Good for us baldies. Mine's ran fine for 5+ years

Has anyone got the Pro version of this, and if so is it noticeably better for over £20 extra?

    Good question,

I have one of it, don't ever try it on your beard or moustache. It pulls like the ones from "Wish"
    simonspeakeasy's avatar
By a fairly long coincidence, I trimmed my beard with this less than 10 minutes before reading your post!
For me it doesn't pull, but the 'tines' are quite sharp, so it's not ideal.
  27. ALYMAC76's avatar
Had mine around 5 years and going strong. I use it mainly now for beard and works a treat.
  28. tibby's avatar
These are great as most agree but why do they keep on going up in price? The design must be 10 years old now. I have gone through a few. I'm sure I paid £19.99 for one set.

This is the best diy razor recommend it,

I do back and sides a couple of times between cuts keeps it fresh

Random but genuine question; how loud would you say the buzz is compared to a wired traditional clipper please? TIA

I would say it's about the same

Had one of these for 4 years and still going strong. I use it every 3-4 weeks for a hair trim.
  32. _g_'s avatar
As someone's kept his (well, what I have left) hair shaved or very short, I didn't get on with these - not close enough for the 'stubble' look I was aiming for.
    TheCostOfLies's avatar
Open blade and they weren't short enough? That's not a stubble look, that'd be a clean shaven look. These go very close without the guards on.
  33. SmokeyNegroni's avatar
Do these actually cut to the bone as such? I e. Bald?
    -xn's avatar
Close enough, leave about 1mm of hair
  34. r1krok's avatar
Probably a silly question, but does anyone use these just to tidy up the back and sides?

Wouldn't trust myself on the top, but I prefer a bit more left up there
    jameshothothot's avatar
you can use different length clippers for different areas
