Replacement for red wine

I bought 2 boxes/cartons of red wine from Tesco, 19 crimes in the carton instead of bottles. They have packed date 25/11/2022 and they were opened tonight.

I bought them some months ago, probably 6-7 months ago. The first box was off, so I opened the second box, which was fine. They were both bought at the same time.

Google says that unopened red wine should last 2-3 years so one box has gone off early.

I had bought it from Tesco but I no longer have a receipt. Do you think that I can get a replacement if I bring the carton back to Tesco?

No chance a boxed wine last two to three years. They aren’t meant for long term storage. I would suggest 9 months max from manufacture date and even then you are pushing it. There should be a best before date on it somewhere, probably the bottom.

As for refund. Life’s too short. Move on.

I don't think wine has a best before date like other drinks. I will have a careful look.

update - there is no use by date, just the PKD date, which I take to mean packaged date as it wouldn't have been out of date when I bought it. (edited)

They changed their refund policy not long ago - no receipt, no refund unfortunately!

You used to be able to use a bank statement as proof, but they no longer accept those either

Can put it out in little tubs or bowls to act as fly catchers. Flies are drawn to fruity wine.

if you still have it my sister-in-law will probably take it. I've seen her hoover split lambrusco off the carpet in a students flat.

I still have the carton as I am thinking what useful ways I could make use of it . My husband says that it tastes like sherry, so I am sure if anyone likes sherry, it will be fine

Any suggestions on how to usefully use red wine that has gone off will be welcome (edited)

If it's the sherry that got your Granny leathered it's best down the khazi. Iffy red wine does well in a chilli.
BTW, I never knew your Granny, just going on mine, mad as a box of frogs after a couple of scoops of QC sherry.
